Intense RAM usage.
1 Attachment(s)
The problem is that I keep finding winamp 5.581 using 1.5-2gb of ram. I'm on a fresh install of win7x64 and fresh everything else. I'm using no 3rd party addons.
My PC specs are as follows: Asus p7p55d-e i5 655k @ 3.83 GHz 8GB DDR3 2200 On board sound GTX 480 Win7 Ultimate winamp 5.581 (Pro user) There are no error messages associated, I just notice that winamp has been using alot of RAM. Winamp is installed under administrator / power user privaleges. The only thing I can add to this is that winamp doesn't start at that much ram (more like 50MB) but after some time (i am unsure how long) it is much higher amount of mem usage. I saw a thread that seemed to be outlining the same issue, however that thread was started in 2007 and the last post was in very early 2008. I chose not to post there because over 2 years ago means a different version of winamp, and anyway he was saying it starts for him at 12MB and goes up to about 40MB which is largely different than starting at 50MB and ending at over 1.5GB!! |
Well, there is just the one 3rd-party plugin present...
WinampAC3 decoder (AC3/DTS) [in_winampac3.dll] You could remove that and add AC3 to in_dshow config...? You could also try the Winamp 5.59 Beta to see if the problem persists? http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?t=322995 |
Ok removed winamp AC3, and added AC3 to in_dshow... heading to bed I'll let ya know tomorrow!
Thanks. |
Update: winamp is currently running just under 100MB RAM and it hasn't been going up at all. Guess that plugin was borked. TY =D
