Transfering FLAC files to PMP

I have some very large FLAC files that I would like to (automatically) transcode to mp3 and transfer to my PMP. When I try to transfer the files (by dragging from the library onto "USB Drive H:" in the side pane) I get a "transfer failed" message in the Portables pane. I assume it has something to do with the size or sample-/bit-rate of the file, as a smaller file successfully transcodes and transfers.

Here's the format info for a file that fails:

code:
Length: 196 seconds
Channels: 2
Bits per sample: 24
Sample Rate: 96000 Hz
File Size: 70256022 bytes
Average bitrate: 2863 kbps
Compression Ratio: 62%
Filesize: 67.0 MB

and the format info for a file that transfers:

code:
Length: 310 seconds
Channels: 2
Bits per sample: 16
Sample Rate: 44100 Hz
File Size: 35439590 bytes
Average bitrate: 914 kbps
Compression Ratio: 64%
Filesize: 33.7 MB

Any ideas?

Another thing I should mention is that I'm using an iPod Nano 1G w/ Rockbox. I assume that I'm using pmp_usb, and I didn't install iPod support. Like I said, it works with some FLAC files, transcoding and all, and my MP3s transfer perfectly.

Are there any logs or any way I could get verbose output to figure out what's going on here? Does Winamp use the real Lame encoder? If it does, I could use the command line version of lame to get some more output. Does anyone know where I can get a binary copy of lame?

Also, how do you edit posts on these here forums?

Edit: Figure out how to edit! There's a binary copy of LAME 3.98.4 at http://www.rarewares.org/mp3-lame-bundle.php
