Artist info wont display correctly
I have meticulously gone through my entire library of music making sure all artist info was setup correctly.
I do this so that I dont have a cluttered library in my media players such as having a layout like this in the dropdown xzibit xzibit ft dr dre xzibit ft snoop dogg xzibit ft alkoholiks etc... I have changed the info in their main windows folders so that all those should appear under just "xzibit" and they actually do appear correct in windows media player. In winamp its a scattered free for all of artists and featured artists. what gives? |
The artist in that case is xzibit ft dr dre etc. The artist tag always shows the artist of the song, in that case both, Xzibit and Dr. Dre are the artist. The artist of the album is Xzibit only. A lot of people use a wrong tagging sheme.
You should use the album artist tag. Album Artist = Xzibit: http://meggamusic.co.uk/shup/1288135859/aa3.png Then change the local media view to show album artist instead of artist. On top of the local media view, you can see 3 buttons. The second button allows you to change, what should be shown. http://meggamusic.co.uk/shup/1288135563/aa.png So set it to Album Artist: http://meggamusic.co.uk/shup/1288135726/aa2.png As result, all of these songs will be grouped under 'Xzibit' only instead of multiple entries. |
