ShoutCast Down On Squeezebox Radio [RESOLVED since 01-18-2011]

I have just got a squeezebox wifi radio for Christmas,... One of the main reasons I wanted it was for shoutcast It was advertised as being fully able & partnered to work with with shoutcast , & now it appears for some reason shoutcast is denying its use?
What would the reasons be for this? what difference does it make what device I use to access shoutcast? & why would you prevent a device from being used? especially when wifi radios are becoming popular with so many models?
Can anyone shed some light on whats going on with this & weather it will be resolved ? or should i Just return the device while I still can?

based on what i can see posted in http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=84009, i'd go with the limit having been reached on their developer id for accessing of the YP directory via the v2 apis (based on the error codes looking much like those the Winamp Android app had when experiencing similar issues).

if they are in the partner program then they should be able to get it resolved via the contacts provided through that i would assume.

also you should still be able to play shoutcast streams if you manually connect to the stream instead of via the directory option for the time being.

really without knowing how they are accessing the YP listing (as that's the only thing which isn't working) and i really cannot tell even if they are in the newer partner api program or not then until the relevant people are back then i cannot answer. if they are in the partner api program then they should have the relevant contacts for getting support but based on what's listed on the main site and that response i've got to guess they maybe aren't.

i'll have to find out on my end and go from there when people are back off holiday, etc...

Ok thanks for the responses , we just hope you guys can get together on this at some point
because there's many Squeezebox users that really want the Shoutcast app continued :)

Do we have a decision on weather or not assistance will be provided to repair this app for squeezebox or will it be discontinued?

As previously communicated to the forums and developer community either individually and thru the forums ( http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?t=322860 ), the SHOUTcast team has released the new API 2.0 and is no longer supporting the old API.

I want to address the Logitec issue directly. Logitec was alerted of the impending change to the SHOUTcast API as far back as late 2009 and early 2010. After discussions with them, Logitec chose to not move ahead with the API migration. You will have to ask Logitec why they chose not to do so.

So at this time we are busy migrating current licensed partners to the new API, and are also working with Logitec to become a licensed partner if they chose to do so.

thanks!

Whatever,

you guys are loosing partners because of your attitude.

and a week after faisal's post there's http://forums.slimdevices.com/showpo...5&postcount=53 so i'd say that's a good turn around once things started to be worked on (especially if part of the issues were down to what is mentioned in that post).

any change of platform is going to have some sort of teething issues and yes it may cause some bumps in the road as it happens, but generally it all gets worked out and then everyone is happy. and it's not like the ability to play SC streams was broken in this case, just searching for streams which i guess some view as the be all and end all.

either way, i'd say it looks like things are resolved now.
