Hi!

how can I edit the default links in the minibrowser?
If I could I can put there lyrics shortcuts, covers, etc, etc (better than the default links!)

Please help!

theres a file called winamp.lks edit it with wordpad/notepad or your prefered editor - just use plaintext mode

the script is simple it looks like:
Winamp Linsk File v1.0

BrowseLoc file:///mypath/myfile.* My Title

the file protocol was my example

heres another:

Browseloc http://www.google.com/ Google Search.

give it a go i dont know if there is still a limit for links in the menu!

for a default one add DefBrowseLoc instead of BrowseLoc

He was asking about the links in the minibrowser, not the ones in the About Winamp box. Besides, the latter has been gone since version 2.6.
To change the links in the minibrowser, find the winampmb.htm file in your Winamp directory, and edit it to your liking.

well guys, 10x. It's really the winamp.lks file , and if you want to see something nice, just enter in that file: (second line)

BrowseLoc http://www.altavista.com/cgi-bin/que...q&Translate=on Lyrics

And then whenever you play a song you'll get a search for it lyrics. I find it very effective & groovy.

didn't work for me, I belive the instruction to go to http://www.winamp.com/browser/mb_ama.jhtml?artist=$a is built into the exe.

Believe me - it works. If u use the latest winamp 2.7, and use this WINAMP.LKS file:
(You can change BrowseLoc to DefBrowseLoc, could work either)

Winamp Links File v1.0
BrowseLoc http://www.altavista.com/cgi-bin/que...q&Translate=on Lyrics
.
.
.
EndFile

As I get it - the general syntax for the BrowseLoc line is:

BrowseLoc [url] [description]

Where:

url= the url you want, with no spaces whatsoever (if you need spaces, use %20, usually works) and $a for Artist and $t for Title (from the ID3 tag).

description= that is what will be written when you're in the minibrowser and click the little UP ARROW button, if you know what I mean, you can use spaces and the $a & $t parameters also here.

I hope I'm any help. http://forums.winamp.com/ubb/smile.gif

Anyone who knows other parameters like the $a, etc... or any other info, I'd be glad to know of it.

I don't get it. With my Winamp 2.7, the contents of the WINAMP.lks file have no effect on anything in Winamp, including anything in the minibrowser and anything in the About Winamp box. Plus, the WINAMP.lks file hasn't been modified since 7/4/00, meaning that it hasn't been included in any versions of Winamp that I've installed since then (and I presume that I temporarily reinstalled Winamp 2.5e on 7/4/00), and implying that it hasn't been used by Winamp since then. The only thing that affects the contents of my minibrowser is editing the winampmb.htm file.

[Edit: Whoops, nevermind. I just found what you guys were talking about. Wonder why the latest versions of Winamp haven't come with that file, though.]
