When you have headphones with pause/play controls (inline remote), it will allow WinAmp to utilize these buttons. The reason it is not automatic is that some people have a number of audio apps on their phones and the headset may not know which app to control with those buttons. If I don't have it turned off, and I am listening to a podcast in BeyondPod and press the button it might start Winamp rather than pause BeyondPod, and then BOTH are playing! So, a nice feature to have.
