They got home this morning and all is well. I've got pictures, but we've been receiving quite some guests this day and Rachel and Bertina both need my attention as well.

What is the Dutch pronunciation of Rachel? Is it ra-KELL or RAY-chǝl? In the States, we usually say the latter when we see your "Rachel" spelling.

Ted - the first one, but with a sharp G most English speaking people can't produce instead of the K. But don't break your head over it, feel free to say (or think - on the internet) your normal RAY-chǝl.

For my own name, I personally prefer English speaking people to say my name as Luke (instead of Luuk). The long 'uu' we have is another strange sound for most. It's easier for them and it's basically the same name.
It just sounds strange if they try.

Mrs WotL is really okay - sitting down and standing up hurts, but that was to be expected.

Rachel is doing much better that I had even hoped for. When she's awake she is curious, loves listening to the birds and really tries to see things (keep in mind that she didn't need her eyes in the past 9 months). I like how she can look cross-eyed, especially when she just wakes up. She only cries when she's hungry or needs a new diaper. Last night she slept all night, apart from her feeding, and she's not even a week old!.

MnV - I'm not even a smoker, but if someone has a baby and passes out cigars to celebrate, for some reason I smoke it like I've been a habitual smoker for decades. Strange.

No, she sneaked out after bedtime with the neighbor's newborn boy. They weren't quiet; they were just far enough away that you couldn't hear them! [kidding of course :p ]

You are certainly lucky to have someone able to sleep through the night at that age. I really hope she can continue this way.
