Bugs and Issues
Hi, I use Winamp for Android on a Galaxy i5800 running modded Android 2.2.
Issues I noticed so far: - Starts playing by itself. Huge Bug, please fix it asap. - Wifi Sync does not always detect device. Have to restart Winamp on PC and Phone several times before it is shown. - Very annoying failure in implementation of reencoding: I usually store music in flac on my pc. On the Phone I cant afford the space, so I set winamp to transcode all music before it is sent to the phone. And here comes the implementation I could really get angry about: Winamp always reencodes one file, after (!!!) having finished the transcoding it sends the file and when this is finished it starts encoding the next one. This is completly wrong. Why doesn't it encode the next file while sending the last one? This would save 50% of the time. The encoding even is singlethreaded. Winamp-Developers? Where do you live? I got 6 cores to offer Winamp and I want it to use them. As only pro users (as me) can use the automatic reencoding I feel that I may complain in the above manner. I hope you are not upset and see this as a feedback on the still very unstable Winamp for Android App. |
Just checked in here after a month or so away, to see if there is any update on the long list of bugs, including the ones Levino mentioned above. Very disappointed to see that 1.0.3 is still the 'latest' version (from October 2010 IIRC) - this really is extremely poor from an 'organisation' like this.
I uninstalled Winamp from my Galaxy S after it embarrassingly started playing music all by itself during an important meeting, and I won't be reinstalling it until there has been some progress to clear up these fundamental problems. What is up with these guys? Are they doing anything at all to address the bugs that people are diligently reporting here? Unbelievable. Thank goodness there are better alternatives out there. |
