Maybe if you are using Windows 7 or Vista then you have to start Winamp one time as Administrator (right-click on the desktop icon for example). Then activate the checkbox for the folder context menus (or disable them if they are enabled and then close Winamp, repeat the step and enable them again).

I have no idea if this helps for this issue, but this process often does the trick for similar problems under Windows 7.

Best regards,
kzuse

I'm using winXP...It's the first time I saw this issue in Winamp...

Anyone else using Replay Gain notice that it doesn't calculate correctly anymore? If there are ID3 tags on a file already then it generally gives me all +0.000000's, if the files are completely untagged, then it works as expected.. Seems to be more an issue with ID3v1 tags?

DJ Egg 11th July 2011 23:29

@osmosis

Try the patched ml_rg.dll available in this thread:

Winamp 5.621 Released

First post has been updated accordingly

All known security vulnerabilities are now fixed :-)

Note that the main site won't be updated until sometime tomorrow...

MrSinatra 12th July 2011 00:18

installed and working fine so far... :)

stopasking 12th July 2011 11:59

Will there be a small .exe update file again to update from 5.62 to 5.621? :)

lostinsound 12th July 2011 13:30

The link to the pro version isn't working for me. It just goes to the download page and nothing happens. For all the others it starts the download automatically. Is it just me?

OlexijL 12th July 2011 14:28

No. The link to Winamp 5.621 Pro Multilanguage does not work really.

It should be fixed.

Please use the following link to 5.621 Pro multilanguage instead: Winamp 5.621 Pro Multilanguage (fixed) link.

Pbirv 12th July 2011 21:45

I still say that it needs the single page option for all Shoutcast stations within a genre, the "find as you type", and the genre memory restored.

Serpher 21st July 2011 09:41

mp3HD VBR display

There's something wrong about this version and mp3HD songs. Winamp shows me only CBR of mp3HD track. It's like mp3HD plugin was never installed. I've reinstalled Winamp, mp3HD plugin and nothings changed. It started with this version 5.621. Changing skin doesn't help.

Any ideas?

PS.
BTW. Command for showing in Media Library the latest songs is also broken (filetime < [10]).

peruandarts 22nd July 2011 05:34

Hey, thanks for this new one!

seanpual 25th July 2011 12:32

Winamp is the best media player i am using it. Thanks for the good information about the release of new version...

DARcode 29th July 2011 18:00

Does this still work with this release please? Thanx.

DrO 29th July 2011 18:43

DARcode: probably but you're on your own if you attempt to use it now as no one is providing support for that modification.

Got it, so Koopa has finally abandoned the Sidecar and no equivalent functionality will be made available built-in or else then?

DrO 1st August 2011 07:57

there's nothing stopping you manually applying the changes or running an older version of the EP installer (if available) to patch the skin and then explicitly copy the skin folder and use that copy instead of the normal folder so you keep the feature.

This shouldn't surprise you really. I made a clear point ages ago, why it has been removed and that I provide an own installer for it.

Nobody maintains the sidecar, the addon produced a couple of issues in the past and I was tired to confirm, if it's working with newer Winamp builds and I was bored to request a Playlist Sidecar update, when I get no answer. Nobody from the internal team ever wanted to test the thing, so I was the only one, who had to install it again and again for each WA release. Also the thing wasn't working on my own install when I tested it the last time.

Along with the issues, the thing isn't and never was an essential feature.

The addon was written by Martin, contact him for updates, contact him if the thing isn't working and contact him, if you want to have a new feature. As for my part I'm done with it and never will touch it again.

Though, I've spent a couple of time to provide a full working installer, which is, unlike Martin's old installer, able to uninstall the thing without breaking the skin. So you have the same install functionality, which you had in Essentials Pack. If it's working for you or not, nobody can say, the only thing I can say for sure is, that even if it still would be part of the EP, nobody would update it, so if it's broken, it's simply broken.

If you cannot live with it, use an old build of the Essentials Pack, like DrO said.

DARcode 8th August 2011 09:30

@ DrO: call me dense but I didn't understand your suggestion, can you please outline how I'd be supposed to tweak an older EP install?
I Am IT literate, just not that familiar with WA's innards and relative installers.

@ Koopa: I caught your drift when you wrote:"use the thing at your own risk, there won't be any guarantee, that it's working" in mid March, I was simply hoping you might reconsider, anyway I didn't post to ask for support, as I'm happy to report 'the thing' is working fine with Winamp 5.621 both on my WinXP Pro SP3 32-bit and my Win7 Ult SP1 64-bit machines.
I find it very convenient and one of the 5 main reasons I haven't switched to foobar2000 yet, but it seems nobody else shares my opinion.

DrO 8th August 2011 09:37

go to the skins folder, make a copy folder of the Winamp Modern folder and call it something different, then in the preferences select that version to use. otherwise whenever you install Winamp, the changes will be removed as the installer 'resets' the skins so they are correct for that Winamp release.

-daz

DARcode 8th August 2011 09:59

@ DrO: I see, thank you, I assume you mean a copy of the C:\Program Files\Winamp\Skins\Winamp Modern folder of a Winamp installation with a working Playlist Sidecar, right?
Just to be sure, right now, as mentioned, Sidecar's working fine with Winamp 5.621 (installed it with the stand-alone package from here), so I'd better make a backup of that folder renaming it to something different and selecting it as the skin after installing the next WA release (clearly if the external package doesn't work first)?

DrO 8th August 2011 12:57

correct, the folder with the working version in it.

if you change Winamp to use the 'copied' folder now then you won't need to change things again. the installer will only mess with the folder 'Winamp Modern'. so if it's 'My Winamp Modern' then it won't be touched.

TRICK OR TREAT!!!! (do the brits get that reference?)
well, more treat than trick.
Thanks for the Update. Halloween edition!

OlexijL 26th October 2011 15:21

Just after upgrading to the new version Winamp crashed. Was a clean install. However using DFX plugin which i reinstalled shortly after upgrade too.

Using currently 5.621 (5.6.2.3173) which not crashes.

The crashing version is current 5.6.2.3188.

Using Win7 x86.

DJ Egg 26th October 2011 16:47

Oops, looks like it's crashing on load with any language pack enabled,
and it has something to do with new JTFE (gen_jumpex.dll).

Expect a fix at some point..

[Edit]

Hmm, I can't actually reproduce the crash myself,
but Pawel & Koopa (Polish & German translators) have reported it and confirmed that it's gen_jumpex related.
Anyone else seeing the crash?
Dang!

[Edit2]
Aha! Modern skin (I only tested with Bento).
A fix is on the way....

DrO 26th October 2011 17:03

if we can reproduce the issue... might be related to the system locale since i'm not able to reproduce the error when using any of the language packs though that's with my locale set to english rather than german or polish (as has just been tested and confirmed to crash against).

[edit]
ok, looks like i've found it as it now works for pawel - is an issue from the change in the compiler used to build the plug-in (to align it to the rest of Winamp).

Pawel 26th October 2011 18:52

Zero Waiting Time... :P
Thanks for quick fix.

Morku 26th October 2011 20:31

new version don't work. It crashs after every start. I use old skin.

DrO 26th October 2011 20:44

Morku: did you actually read any of the posts above before posting that?

[edit]
see the following post by DJ Egg for where to get the fix.

-daz

DJ Egg 26th October 2011 20:59

build 3189 now uploaded

Only differences between 3188 & 3189:

-gen_jumpex.dll v1.2.4 build 1159 (fixes reported crash)
-in_avi, in_mod, in_midi, in_nsv version bumps (no actual code changes, just forgot to bump them)
-theora.w5s/wbm added to uninstaller

Morku 26th October 2011 21:23

no, of course I didn't 8)

edit: Build 3189 works fine. Thanks.

walker1973 26th October 2011 23:39

Same here i used winamp5622_pro_de-de.exe installed and after every start winamp crash.
winamp5621_pro_all works fine for me.
Windows 7 Home Premium X64.

DrO 26th October 2011 23:43

walker1973: you need to make sure that you're installing build 3189 and _not_ build 3188 (as indicated in the two posts prior to the one you've just made).

-daz

walker1973 27th October 2011 00:03

Winamp 5.622, Build 3189 works thx, download link on main site need to be fixed for the new version.

MrX_1980 27th October 2011 07:24

It is still build 3188 on the server:
http://download.nullsoft.com/winamp/..._pro_de-de.exe

OlexijL 27th October 2011 07:45

To all german users (like me)... Do not install that winamp5622_pro_de-de.exe version from the post above.

The simplest is to download the multilanguage pro version (this includes german too): (winamp5622_pro_all.exe)
Link: http://download.gdownload.nullsoft.c...22_pro_all.exe

If you do not possess the key, you can cancel the registration dialog and it does not have any emusic things included :)

kzuse 27th October 2011 12:55

Will the file

http://download.nullsoft.com/winamp/..._pro_de-de.exe

be updated to Build 3189 some time?
As this is the installer I used to install for years and its smaller than the Multilanguage one.

Best regards,
Fabian

PS: (Alternatively, are the updated dlls available separately in the meantime?)
