Support for other streamtypes
Is it possible streaming uncompressed audio / Wave or Ogg/Vorbis trough the Shoutcast2 DNAS?
I want to use shoutcast DNAS for distributing audio to HTML5 non-mp3 browsers for instance Mozilla's Firefox. |
icecast for ogg/vorbis
uncompressed ... forget it .. 700kbit for a single stereo 22050Hz sample rate stream |
Bad luck. Don't like the xiph directory. I hoped the new shoutcast2 added more formats.

officially only AAC+ and MP3 are supported though there is provision for ogg in the v2 protocol specs (though unlikely to happen but is there just incase). otherwise the v2 DNAS generally will only allow through what is currently supported by it at the time.

Would be cool though, suppose alot of people prefer to stream their content by 1 type of server to minimize the amount of maintenance. If I was allowed to give a feature request, this is mine :)

i don't disagree that supporting ogg streams probably wouldn't be too bad an idea but stuff that like isn't up to me to decide upon (and i'm not sure of the long standing reasons why it's not done). supporting raw wav just wouldn't make any sense and i think MP3, AAC+ and OGG are about it for the main streamed formats that would be viable to support.

Tell us who to hug? :) I agree ogg would be the best valuable format to add.
