Winamp as Default Player

Hi All.
I am running Winamp Android 1.1.1. When I use the media buttons on my Bluetooth headset to paus and restart music it pauses fine, but then when I try to restart it brings up a menu asking if I want to run winamp or the default music player, but there is no way to set the default.
Is there a solution to this.
Note also if I manually select Winamp instead of just playing (Like it does from the widget (The way I run winamp)) it loads the full interface. I am commonly running other applications that I want to keep in the foreground so this is also a deficiency here.
On a separate side on regular occasions tracks play about the first quarter second then restart and play through. It isn’t particularly annoying, but it is worth noting.

So has no one experienced a similar issue?

So... does no one use the Media button on there BT Headset?

Jarod00 19th October 2011 04:42

HI falcon-lord,

I'm experience the same problems. When I want to control winamp with my blue tooth headset, the default player of my galaxi s2 always pops up and start playing too. I tried deinstalling the default player but that seems impossible.
Question remains: how to make winamp default or how to get rid of the default player?

Gr Collin

Good to hear I am not the only one doing things so obscure…
Bad to hear that you are also suffering from it.

I've got a similar issue, my winamp got upgraded last night to 1.2, now the headset controls no longer recognize winamp as my default media player..

Well You are doing better than I am with 1.2.
As of 1.2 Winamp is now not functioning at all.
Historically I have never had a bad drop of winamp on the PC. Their testing team for Droid isn’t being so thorough.

I've experienced the same exact problems as every one else here. And I've been using since the beta and it started with. V1.2.x.

As of 1.2.6 still not default player for BT

As of v1.2.6 Winamp is still NOT the default player when using bluetooth controls. I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling and following all the tips I've seen to reset this and all to no avail.

I found it! If you can browse to a music file on your phone and open it it will ask you with which program you want to open it with and then you can select the option to use this as the default. I haven't yet tried it with my bluetooth headset but I think this works.

I am using a galaxys2 and a file exlporer is included with it but I also think there are freeware version on the market place to let you browse files.

hope this helps.

bigvikesfan 15th November 2011 01:35

Didn't work

Nice idea Navee on selecting a file and setting the default but it did not work for me with the bt controls on my car stereo.

However I did find that if I deselect Winamp within an app I use call Advanced Task Killer it did work twice which it had never done before. That's a positive step. But ATK hasn't update in months and Winamp always worked before v1.2.x.

I will test more tomorrow and report what I find.

By going into the media Button router I can now remove the tick next to all other applications, the media button now opens winamp…
But it doesn’t make it play.

bigvikesfan 15th January 2012 05:57

Any chance this is being worked on or...

is it even recognized as a problem?

I use a DROID 2 and I've tried all of the tips short and as of v1.2.9 this is still not working. If I start v1.2.9 from the shortcut it responds to the BT commands until it's been "paused" for a few minutes and then the default player starts responding to the BT commands.

Also I the same behavior using either my car stereo (Sony BT-2500 and my Motorola headphones).

Installing v1.1.1 makes WinAmp the default player.

Thanks
