Flac tags
Hello,
I am having a problem with the producer tag on my files. Winamp does not read the producer tag for flac files. I know the tag is there because I checked in foobar 2000 and in mp3tag to make sure. So winamp won't read them but they are there. http://i46.tinypic.com/35lfcar.png note how the producer tags are all blank. Also when I go into view file info: advanced the producer tag is there and filled in. So does anyone have any idea how to make winamp read it? |
I realized that the image I gave doesn't really show anything.
http://i49.tinypic.com/2a0jntd.png the producer tag is blank in the library http://i47.tinypic.com/2i19hu.png But file info has them filled in. Any help would be wonderful. thanks |
thats odd... at first i thought this might be a case where field names were getting "mapped" but instead it just looks like the ML column just isn't linked properly to the vorbis value.
|
it's because in_flac.dll (which provides the flac support) doesn't handle the lookup of that value. have just committed a patch which allows it to be read/written. will be in the next Winamp (subject to any specific updates to the 5.63 release which don't allow for it to be included).

its interesting that even without in_flac.dll being able to lookup that value, file info still displays it in the advanced tab. thats a good thing imo.
i would like to see the same type of tab for id3 files, where there is a raw dump of the 4 character fields, what winamp calls them, and the ability to edit them; like winamp does for vorbis. |

doesn't that have something to do with the fact that its not an mp3 tag ?
i noticed this too a looooong time ago.. Look deeper into this problem and you will find it larger than the one tag field mentioned, for example the flac tag field Publisher Take a program like Tag&Rename for example and look at how that program handles tags.. there are many common tags between the ID3 and Vorbis Comment formats and for tag frames that are different that program maps them together. So the end result is you have one single UI for editing either format. there is not one single entry different for vs the other. And then there is winamp lol |
actually, publisher is probably organization in flac, but as was discussed in another thread, i don't like it when flac fields are conflated. but they did do it for description/comment so maybe they do it here too.
