Does my computer have to stay on
Hi, I used winamp before a while ago and I'm going to start using it again. When I used it I ran an online radio station and I had to keep my computer on all the time in order for the software to run and play the music. Do I have to keep my computer on now in order to keep my music playing or is there a way where I can load my music onto the software where it can play my music and I can shut my computer down? Thanks

it depends on your setup but whatever machine is creating the audio for the stream will need to be running.
so if you're doing everything on your machine then yes it needs to be running all the time. if using a hosting solution and they have an autodj option (or the means for you to install one) then you would have that take over when your machine is not running. it really comes down to what and how you're doing things so i cannot give you a definitive yes or no. -daz |
I'm not really sure about this but where can I get a hosting solution from and if you may know any ways that I can do this how can I have my music play from I guess an online host that I could upload my music too and just let it play from there.

i'm not the person to ask about hosting providers as i prefer to be neutral on such matters. there are many posts about hosts even from the last few months (or you'll likely end up with people posting replies to pimp their hosting solutions).
if you go hosted then you basically need to account for how much it's going to cost you, how much bandwidth you want / expect / can afford and to ensure that you're correctly licensed for broadcasting (subject to the laws / rules) from where you're located - as it varies by country and also depending on what hosting setup you end up with and is again something mentioned in the discussion sub-forum within the last few weeks. -daz |
