I have a problem with my cursors. I've seen a doctor, but he couldn't help. Anyway, what happens is that they flicker like buggery (that's if they don't disapppear totally), which frankly blows goats. Any workarounds?

You can disable those cursors. Open Winamp, hit Ctrl+P and uncheck the box 'Use Winamp-styled (skinned) cursors' in the Display options.

Yeah, I've done that, but I want pretty cursors! Is there anything else I can do?

Other than what Zorro has suggested...I don't think there is anything you can do about flickering cursors. Some of mine flicker too....I don't know what makes them do that.

I think that cursors flicker because they have a changing background. Like the scrolling text bar

I think Rikki's onto it. The only time I see cursors flicker, is when they're resting over an updating bitmap -- such as the posbar tracking during a playing song.
WyldG, do your cursors flicker even when Winamp is "at rest"? ------------------ Give me the beat, boys, that frees my soul -- Drift Away |
Thanks Rikki! I never paid any attention to it before, but they flicker even if you are using the base skin with the default cursors. The only time they stop is when you stop Winamp.

easy way to stop flickering icons/cursors in winamp (and other stuff) Defrag your pc things stop flikering.. but remember that other people dont defrag so is still gonna fliker on their pc
if theirs fliker in winamp then they are ued to other cursors flikering on the pc dont worry 2 much as i didn't worry too much before started making skins |

My Problem With Cursors isn't like any i've heard of
i designed a skin for winamp and i want to creat custom cursors for this, and so i got the programs for it, and finaly got them to do like i wanted and the cursor to actually look as i whished, and so i changed the one that i got like i wanted to Normal.cur, and added it to my *.wsz file, the first few times i tried this the cursor wouldn't work and it stayed as whatever cursor reigon it passed over before (i.e. volbar.cur) after a few more tries with diffrent cursor creations of mine it stopped doing that and now i get NO cursor in the normal.cur reigons ...¿?¿?
|
I guess the first thing to check would be hit CTRL+P go to Options > Display and make sure that 'Use Winamp style (skinned) cursors' is checked.
Another thing you can check, when you open your skin's folder, can you see your cursors (the ones you made), in the file? From you saying that the default cursors show up, it sounds like maybe there is an error in the cursor names. That is very odd that you're getting no cursor at all, even if you have no cursors in your skin file, Winamp will use the default cursors. |
my skins
i thought it was weird as well, the prefrences are checked to use winamp styled cursors, and when i undo that the windows cursors work fine, i've checked and double checked the names to see if they are right and as far as i can tell the names match those of the same cursor in the base sminn that I downloaded .?¿

Hmmmm.....can you email me a copy of it? It makes it much easier to be able to see what we're working with. :)

when i turned off the visualization options on winamp (i.e the bit under the time of the track already done or remaining) it helped loads....still flickers but hardly as bad as before.
