my shoutcast server doesnt work on the network or over the internet, i think everything is installed correctly, but on the internet and on the two computer network at my house, when someone connects, it plays the songs at about 40x the speed of the song playing and has to continually buffer every 10 secs (which is usually half a 3min song), even over my network wich can handle atleast streamed song at double full quality, i just want to sync the computer speakers, but it stuffs up, i've tried the netsync programs and theyre no use, shoutcast is gold. it worked on old winamps. any ideas? ive got the latest winamp and shoutcast need any info from me?

Just a thought but you said, "it worked on old winamps". Roll your version of Winamp back.

If it isn't broken, don't mess with it ;)

the idea is when you update software, its supposed to be improved.

why would i want to forfeit all of my new nullsoft trinkets for that though?

KidGloves 22nd December 2000 07:40

From a Datacenter view point, updates are to fix problems. Updates that cause problems aren't implemented. It's just a thought. I prefer older and working to new and unstable... but that's just me.

CaStR8oR 22nd December 2000 13:48

right, so why did they create problems mr smarty pants?

KidGloves 22nd December 2000 17:01

One of the reasons: New features. The new functionality hasn't been tested as much. Once a products is released, that's when the real testing begins. The general public at large find problems. That's the reason for Service packs, etc, or in this case, a new version. The problem with new versions is on an application such as winamp, rarely is it /just/ bug fixes. Usually adds more, as you said "...new nullsoft trinkets..."
The call is yours: new trinkets but not working quite right or older version that works just fine. Depends on your priorities.

thats what ßeta releases are for, full releses are ones with everything working, and another thing, you allways have to have the last word so ner

KidGloves 23rd December 2000 08:57

Beta releases... work the big bad bugs out. Release is open to the public with acceptable risk. No such thing as bug-free code or app.

I don't not need to have the last word! :Þ

Casthingie, you haven't told which version of shoutcast, the server and winamp you're using. That would be a nice thing to start with :).

People often say 'latest' when they don't know there are any upgrades.

Version numbers are always a good idea.
