All my MP3's are on their own drive. Playing a directory where that directory is a drive generates odd errors (as if Winamp is also playing the Recycle Bin or System Volume Information folders). For example it attempts to "play" old links to long deleted programs--further odd because my recycle bin is empty.

No error occurs when I move all the MP3 files on that drive to one folder and then play that folder (on the same drive).

I did try deleting those recycle bins with long numbers as well but don't know what impact if any that had.

Winamp 2.71
W2K with all the service packs
Norton Systemworks is installed on manual and the protected recycle bin is disabled

Wouldn't it be preferable to have all your folders contained within a few generic folders IYSWIM

I have a similar setup to yourself and group the folders in folders called RIPS and D/Ls. The folders can then be sub-divided into generic types if required eg classical, jazz, soundtracks etc.

Just a suggestion, but it works for me and stops the recycle bin issue from arising.

hmm... i have the same setup as you (mp3's on their own drive with the artist as the subdirectory). i've never had a problem with winamp playing the recycle bin. that's definitely an odd problem. putting everything in a single subdirectory is a good way to get around it in my opinion. not as nice as having everything in the root, but hey...
