Transcoder admin hangs with calendar? DOH!
 

Can anyone help me understand why my calendar is jacking up my transcoder?
I try and do a weblet like "http://jvond.com:9030/nextsong" and it hangs. Also the playlists are supposed to start instantly when there isn't a specified start date but mine aren't working. When I get rid of the calendar the transcoder runs fine.
I think I'm doing something stupid again... :confused:

honestly, you're better of using something that is actively supported and has development focus - sc_trans does not and even though there's a possible new build coming at some point, it's unlikely to help with any of the issues you're having with it in a time-scale that is appropriate for you.

Ok thanks DrO. I'll try some more trouble shooting. Seems like I had it running good a few times but I must be doing something wrong. It still runs pretty good even when the admin seems to be stuck on a process. Wish me luck. =)

If I can figure out the issue I'll post it here, hopefully help somebody else.

I got it! Had more time to look into it. Seems I had conflicting playlist priority settings. Causes the server CPU to sit around 99% and hangs the admin. Once I fixed my calendar.xml the transcoder ran fine and the CPU goes back down around %7. Running great now!

When working on it today I encountered the same issue and couldn't figure out why it was hanging. It may be because the Transcoder doesn't like to have a playlist, other than the default playlist start, at the very beginning of the process.

Meaning - If you have a playlist starting the same day, periodically, without a start time, without an offset, and you start the transcoder it will get confused and hang. SO, put a 1 second start time on there. example;
I want this play list to start today (Tuesdays) but I may have to wait a week for the cycle to kick in so I made;

yeah, that's a known issue as it gets itself stuck in a loop and won't allow other actions to continue. i think it might have been fixed internally, really not sure as we're not touched it in ages.

I have the same cases when using Minidumpfixer.exe
After type the command with dump and exe file, it return"DMP file sucessfully updated."
but, nothing changed with the dump file.

Would you mind tell me what I am missing?

For my particular problem it was a simple issue where 2 playlists were starting at the same moment when the transcoder was first started. So I had to put a start time of 1 second on the non-default one in the calendar.
