shoutcast not sending song info to server

I rented a server and I can send music to it using winamp and hear the music on second life...(DJing)... but for some reason it doesn't send song title.

I can send a Manual title update... and this does show up in other programs... and it will show up in my Admin page under "current song".

But I would like it to automatically send the song title... but for some reason it's not.

Under Title Update Configuration it's set to "Follow Winamp's title updates" and Send next track title to the server checkbox is ticked.

ensure you're using the current Winamp (v5.65) + Source DSP (v2.3.3) releases (is a link at the top of this forum with 'current releases').

Yah they're both current.

Also I tried Virtual DJ and It did send the song titles automatically.

Not sure if Virtual DJ can have a list of songs or if you have to drag them one by one to play (that would be annoying.) I'd much rather just fucking get winamp to work.

then you'll need to try to debug the issue on the server side and see if it's rejecting the title updates. and assuming it's a true SHOUTcast server you're connecting to, check what version of it is being used. the mention of "Send next track title" makes me think it's a v2.x based DNAS (if so, then if it's a v2.0 build then if you can get it updated to v2.2, then that may help with the issue).

well, that's great

no way to do it?

V DJ does it automatically and winamp can't do a simple little thing... it can send titles manually and that works, but not automatically? and I googled and looked everywhere and nobody has a solution for this that works. You'd think people (who listen to your station) being able to see the name of the song that's playing would be a feature that was important to people.

and V DJ CAN autoplay on random, so winamp is pretty much useless except for the fact that VDJ can't mute while playing... unless you set up another channel ... which i don't know how to do yet... so I might just have to play VDJ on my laptop for now

unfortunately i can only go on what you're saying and using the current Winamp + Source DSP based on everyone else having the same issue apparently resolved things for them.

so i don't know why it doesn't work for you (as it works on everything i've retried it with) and maybe it's due to something else in your Winamp install or the server setup or how you've got the Source DSP setup (as i don't know what DNAS version you're working with - it sounds like v2 but without a link to the DNAS i don't know for certain what is going on).

if you prefer the other source software, then use that as no one is forcing you to use the free source dsp option, especially if it doesn't fit your needs.
