Okay firstly I want to say that I really have trouble with the above mentioned bmps. Mainly because I don't know what size to make them... I seen all kinds of text styles bein used by other people and wonder how they do it... Is there some magic program or something?

And secondly the equalizer is givin' me a terrible migraine... I really am trying to get all those bits and pieces into position proplerly but Paint Shop Pro7 won' listen to me... (arrggghh...) Is there a full guide to skinning winamp out there? If all the dimensios sizes/ of all those little buttons/ bars/ sliders/ windows/ windowshades and stuffs are given then that will be an added bonus :)

Call me simple minded, but all those empty spaces in Pledit.bmp and Avs.bmp and all those other bmps... are they simply backgrounds that are ignored? If so, can I make them any colour I wish?

Okay I admit that I've been using a skinner program, which is why I am so befuddled... those skins sucked, but they DID help me stumble forward...

If my questions are answered satisfactorily, I will be able to finish my first "official" skin, so I wish to thank anyone going to help me in advance, even if I have more questions later. Many thanks.

Oh, and a very happy new year/millenium to all...

Hi,

A nice guy called Strider has documented the specs for the main window. It includes the numbers and text bitmaps.

Strider's guide: http://www.algonet.se/~daniel7/winam...ecs.html<br />

As with the pledit and eqmain files. Yes they are complicated; pledit more so than eqmain due to the stretching nature. The "empty" spaces are there coz otherqwise they couldn't fit it all in and it would be jumbled. They can be any color or a pattern if you like but it will not have any bearing on the skin. it's easier to make them a color not used in your skin so they stick out.

I recommend looking at the baseskin source files. I've forgotten where that is but I'm pretty sure if you search the Winamp Skins for baseskin you will find it. Somebody correct me if I'm talking moneycrap.

I use Paint Shop Pro for skinning and I have tried version 7 but I found that has changed a lot from version 6 and below. I prefer version 6 but if your new to PSP I recommend version 7.

The ultimate graphics program has to be Adobe Photoshop but unfortunately, for us Adobe ask us to fork out ridiculous amounts of cash for that.

I hope I have answered most of your questions but if not I'm sure the regulars will answer your questions. Also, to all reading this please search the forums before you ask questions (as set out in the Winamp Forum primer)
