IceCast stream to ShoutCast Directory
 

I was reading many blogs but couldn't find any info about havinf an IceCast stream listed on a ShoutCast directory.

Is there any way by which I can list my IceCast stream onto the ShoutCast directory?

I have already done the steps given on the link, probably a month ago. Still no listing in the icecast directory.

Perhaps you are not passing valid information to YP

Tried that as well. My server is listed fine on the Icecast YP, but not on the SHOUTcast one. Added the lines to the config file exactly as they appear on the wiki and reloaded Icecast.

Is there anything that can be done to resolve this?

looking at any errors reported in the Icecast logs would be a good starting point. what i put on that wiki page was correct against the standard Icecast build (2.3.something) that was available at the end of 2013 and i'm aware of a number of Icecast streams listed using that method without issue. the normal reasons for it failing were due to missing some of the required information e.g. genre not matching the supported list of genres or having a generic station name. so as with any starting point, you need to look for any log errors.

This is what we're seeing in the Icecast error log -
[2015-01-01 14:55:26] EROR yp/send_to_yp YP add on http://yp.shoutcast.com failed for /hits94128k: no response from server

We're running Icecast 2.33-kh11

That error is generated for all of our mountpoints.

We're able to ping yp.shoutcast.com without issue from the server running Icecast.

Some of our genres are "Top 40", "Adult Contemporary", and "Smooth Jazz"

No streams have generic names.

the hack was never tried with a proper KH build, only a standard build and an alternatively modified standard build, so maybe there is a difference or it was an issue related to the outage and other issues over the last few weeks which should not be present now. I've logged it as something to check but its low priority as we prefer SC DNAS listings over other.

Would it help if you had the server IP address for troubleshooting? I can private message that to you if you would like.

I tried the method with a regular 2.3.3 build (Non KH) and get the same error. Any chance that you could look into this DrO?

in summary, unless you are using an unmodified Icecast instance, it will most likely not be listed e.g. if using a modified version from an alternative advert provider. this is why unexpected / failed connections have been seen from the posts above along with missing listings (as not all Icecast servers are the same and so the YP will not process what it cannot recognise).
