No sound

hi,

I need help, I have setup a server, its running and linking with the source, there is also no error on the log, the stream is also public listed as Kundani Media.

the problem is, there is no sound coming out, I have change around linein and winamp recommended, but I didn't seem to win.

Please someone help

jaromanda 6th January 2015 10:52

No woman no cry

How did I know that if there's no sound?

Because there is

though, at the end of that song, there isn't, but there's no source connected ... so ... I think the problem exists between chair and keyboard

Rumba 6th January 2015 11:06

source is connected and sending .... if you can be so kind and try and assist

jaromanda 6th January 2015 11:16

assist with what? I already told you it works.

jaromanda 6th January 2015 11:20

actually, it's not up at all

jaromanda 6th January 2015 11:24

seems to be up ... but misconfigured ... the url in the listen.pls file is

File1=http://xx.xx.xx.xx:8000/xx.xx.xx.xx:8000/listen.pls

which is 7 kinds of wrong (address obfuscated)

jaromanda 6th January 2015 11:29

Now it's stuttering like a teenage boy seeing boobs for the first time

It worked fine earlier (my first reply) ... whatever you changed, you broke it in several useless pieces.

Or maybe you just don't have the bandwidth to be able stream

Rumba 6th January 2015 11:53

okay, I am a beginner on this platform, I don't know what I might have done wrong now, any suggestions?

jaromanda 6th January 2015 11:58

here's what you need to know

1) do you have the bandwidth to stream radio - that's the speed of your internet connection and the speed of the network connection where DNAS is running (if different)?

2) have you read the documentation?

3) it worked without buffering about an hour ago ... what has changed since then?

Rumba 6th January 2015 12:10

I have read the documantations, no errors on the logs, download speed is at 1.05mbps and upload speed is at 0.41mbps

jaromanda 6th January 2015 12:18

Well, something changed from an hour and a half ago

the link in the .pls file is wrong (must've been right before because I listened for like 2 minutes)

and the stream still sounds like a busted fart

think ... what did you change when you took the stream down an hour and a half ago?

jaromanda 6th January 2015 12:24

post your logs

post your config (obfuscate sensitive stuff)

someone might be able to see something you can't

or, post no real information at all, and wonder why nobody helps - that's the shoutcast way

Rumba 6th January 2015 12:26

trying to reload the config, and update key, maybe it will help, whats so funny is, It cant play on my other computer here

that's not "funny" ... that's common ... if you're hosting DNAS locally, behind a NAT router, you wont be able to listen on the public IP address from within your LAN, unless your router does loopback on redirection

by the way, if you are hosting it locally, you'll be able to get 2 maybe 3 listeners before it craps out ... sorry, maxes out your internet speed ... and that's if there's hardly anything else sending stuff to the internets

P.S. your listen.pls file is still all manner of wrong ... therefore, your config is still busted

not sure why you think "update key" would do anything ... the key determines if you're listed or not ... you ARE listed ... it's just that your config is busted, so you'll never get your 3 listeners until you fix the config

Rumba 6th January 2015 12:37

oh, I see, like I said, I am a novice, I will try and rebuild the config, thanks

DrO 6th January 2015 12:39

remove any streampath lines in the configuration file. DON'T change anything else!

otherwise the stream plays but buffers (due to the poor upload speed) and is seen as ok from the internet - if it wasn't then it wouldn't have been listed.

Rumba 6th January 2015 12:43

I have removed it

jaromanda 6th January 2015 12:48

and it's not constantly buffering either - 2 minutes constant audio

Rumba 6th January 2015 12:50

okay, thanks a lot, which address are you streaming on?

you have more than one?

jaromanda 6th January 2015 12:53

well, 5 minutes ... and it's starting to crap out at times ... 14 underruns in the last 30 seconds

you don't have the bandwidth to support more than 0 listeners it seems

which is a shame ... I was getting in to that south african vibe

Rumba 6th January 2015 12:56

no,

Rumba 6th January 2015 13:09

I saw you connected, great tunes, I will work on the bandwith with my ISP, thanks again

Rumba 9th January 2015 10:54

hi

how can I replace the stream ip by name; so I prevent stream loss when ip is updated.

Dynamic DNS

but, why bother, just tell your 1 or 2 listeners - that's all you'll ever be able to get

DrO 9th January 2015 11:57

if you have a DNS setup then you can set the destip config option (or use publicip if you have to use the destip option to bind to a specific port to get internet access to the DNAS working).

and despite the negative comment above, everyone irrespective of the size of their stream audience where possible should be using a DNS value for accessing the stream instead of just an IP as far too many people keep using.

jaromanda 9th January 2015 22:19

sorry for my "negative comment", I'm sure the whole point of this exercise is to have at most 1 or 2 listeners

DrO 9th January 2015 22:50

it probably is, but having it setup correctly irrespective of the number of listeners is better for everyone.

Rumba 10th January 2015 09:33

thanks for the assistance, I will try that, for the record, I have a Radio station broadcasting on FM, Just on the process of setting up the online stream, I am sure I will be having more listeners when we start promoting the stream

Rumba 15th January 2015 08:49

Hi,

I am failing to setup dns as above stated, my ip has now updated, meaning I need now to visit all my stream pages, apps and manually update,

can someone please provide a detailing setup process for permanent link

Regards

jaromanda 15th January 2015 09:03

search for dynamic DNS ... then ask them for help

Rumba 15th January 2015 09:06

I have been streaming for almost a week 24/7, now I have error 480, what can be the cause, need help urgently

Rumba 15th January 2015 09:11

okay, the error is cleared now

Rumba 15th January 2015 09:12

but I still need help on DNS setup, @DrO

jaromanda 15th January 2015 09:18

DNS or Dynamic DNS?

jaromanda 15th January 2015 09:19

you can @DrO all you like, he's the least likely to hold your hand through setting up Dynamic DNS as it has zero to do with what he's paid for

Rumba 15th January 2015 09:21

is it not allowed to ask for help, if one cant?

Rumba 15th January 2015 09:25

for Dynamic DNS setup? is that what you are having issues with? your IP changes, therefore you have to update stuff manually ... Dynamic DNS will fix that ... look in your router for supported Dynamic DNS ... also called DDNS ... see what Dynamic DNS services your router supports, then sign up with one of them, and follow THEIR instructions on how to set it up

until you decide which Dynamic DNS service you will use, NOBODY can help
