Slow streaming/buffering/delay or I don't know
Hello Shoutcasters!
I've got a problem since day 1. My radio is broadcasting (almost) ok, any player starts to play the music fast, but, longer the user listens to the stream, the further is he from the reality, that is being streamed on the server. For example I'm listening to my radio on my PC for an hour, but when I switch the song on the server-side, I will not notice anything on my PC for few minutes, for I'm not listening to actual song, but one already sent by SC before. Does anybody have similar problems ? I'm using Windows Server 2008, streaming 80 kbps. I'm using firewall. The biggest problem is, that listeners would be mistaken about what is the current playing song, for the JSON/XML information contains actual info, but they can hear out-of-date song. Thank you very much for anything! Have a nice day, and keep the stream up! ;) Lemur Gazda |
what's the DNAS version ? as the 2.x DNAS can be adjusted to lower the buffering amount (if that is what you're already using), though there's nothing that can be done about it if you're using the legacy 1.x DNAS.
but what you're experiencing is essentially expected (and at times can often be down to the listener software), somewhat more so with lower bitrates and the legacy 1.x DNAS. |
Oh, hi DrO!
Thanks for replying, I'm using the latest version of DNAS (2.4.7), so there can be done something, to improve this ? Thanks! :) |
you can try dropping 'adaptivebuffersize' to a lower value than it's default of 10 seconds (assuming you've not changed 'buffertype' from it's default of '1') to maybe 5 seconds or even 3 seconds. that may help a bit for your use case. otherwise that's about all that can be done as things stand.
