Hello,

I am just new to this. I have successfully setup a shoutcast server (v 1.8) on my small home intranet and tested ok.

I realise I can stream mp3 files only. Is it possible to open your audio cdrom from winamp and start streaming from it without having to rip the cd first onto hard disk to create mp3s?

At the moment the "ShoutCast Source Window" tells me: Source stream connected, but no bytes increment when I play the cd.

I am not sure if I am explaing myself properly.

Anyone interested to help me?

Also what is a wavemapper? How is it used?

Regards

Alfred

hi

hmm it is possible to stream directly from your cd .. i mean it works on my windows me :D
ok how it works. firstly check that "sound buzzer" sound (on mine computer it's third from the left on the right down bar -> you know, on that bar where you see time and so on)
select recording setup
you will see many mixers, and probably stereo out will be selected.
select cd audio or something like that.
that's all:) but remember, you can't speak when cd plays, if you won't select line-in or microphone recording, cos your sound card won't catch signal from mic.

Load winamp and add directories and files, add directly from your cd rom with you cd in it :)winamp will access the drive when that song comes up in the playlist. This works with mp3's on the cd anyway, not sure about cda format.

cda format works the same way,

this method is ..hmm strange. as i observe my cdrom during it, i think it loads data from tracks, not plays it mechanically by cd . that makes cpu very busy, and may make radio skipping. that's bad:/

works for me and does not skip, You are righy it loads from tracks I beleive
