How does the download counter on the details page work?

I know a few friends of mine downloaded my skin, but it's still at 0. Does it update daily instead of in real time?

My skin isn't published, and won't be for a really long time (i'm like 38067), but check it out with the link below.

I think it has to be rated/published first..and then you see how many people downloaded your skin
