I have a pair of speakers that I got when I buy my Compaq. It sounded OK ...
I want a better sound though ... What kind of speakers should I get that is affordable and sound great. I don't really care about the brand all I care is the quality of the sound!

thx ...

p.s And if possible, can you tell me the speakers which can buy at local circuit city, bestbuy, and other electronic store. I can't buy online cuz I'm under age which can't have a credit card :((

Thanks ...

It all depends on what you want to spend. A very good set of speakers to buy would be the DeskTop Theaterâ„¢ 5.1 DTT2200 from Creative Labs, which is designed to be used with the Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 sound card. These speakers are especially good if you have a DVD ROM, as they are capable of reproducing the 5.1 surround sound that is found in DVD movies. As far as I know they cost about $120

If you are looking for something cheaper then try a set of speakers from Harmon-Kardon. They are pretty cheap, but have better than average sound reproduction.

I'd recommend something from Altec Lansing if that's available where you are. I've tested quite a few speakers and this one of the best and most affordable I've found. A decent three piece (2-speaker 1 subwoofer) should cost you around US$50.

My choice if I had the cash would be some bose speakers, or really anything that was THX certified. But, I don't have the money. Just go to a computer store and ask for a recommendation.
