I Downloaded one of the winamps on this site..I think it was in the top winamps page..The file was named something like: lpaiaso. Anyways, I finished downloading it and when I clicked on it and a popup window showed and said:"Windows cannot find PROGRAM. This program is needed for opening files of typ "Lifeamp Media fles." Then it asks me to locate "PROGRAM"...Can anyone help?

Not trying to sound rude, but what on earth are you talking about???!!! What do you mean by "one of your winamps". The only possible thing I could get from this was that you didn't download Winamp, you downloaded a skin instead. They are two different things. Winamp, which can be found at http://www.winamp.com , is the program itself, while skins are nice pictures that overlay the original winamp and make it look nice. "lpaiaso" - I have no idea what this is - I thought it might be a skin but it didn't show up in a search. It's certainly not the winamp installer which is winamp272_full.exe, or something similar. There *is* a skin called Half-LifeAmp, which might be the LifeAmp you are referring to. If you post back with clearer, more detailed information, maybe someone can help.

Thanks Ethan

Your right..Duh..I feel stupid..I downloaded only the skin.
While were at it, I also downloaded a plug-in...Can you tell me what the plug-in does? Thanks a lot for the help..

plugins do many different things. Some display a nice equaliser of some sort or another, other give extra functions. If you tell me the name of the plugin I can give you more information.

Big Problem

Ethan,
It's me again. Well I downloaded the plug-in "Pacemaker" coz it sounded pretty cool...Being able to speed up the song and stuff sounded tight. I used it and just to see if it works, I adjusted the Tempo, Pitch, and Speed all they way up..It didn't work...But wait, there's more. Later on I tried to play one of my mp3's on winamp and there was no sound..What's more is the the clock speed of the song is off the charts. It goes in 30 second increments or so. I thought maybe the winamp file was damaged so I deleted the pacemaker plug-in and downloaded a new winamp and the pacemaker plug-in again from this site. But it was still messed up. So I thought maybe if I adjusted the Tempo, Pitch, and Speed back to normal, it would fix everything. NOpe. I thought wrong..I dunno what else to do..Can ya help? I hope i didn't confuse you w/ all I said..

I took a look at the Pacemaker plugin and it caused a couple of problems for me too. The problem with the thirty second increments is probably for this reason.:

When you increased the speed of the playback, you put more demands on winamp to decode quicker. Winamp buffers a certain amount of mp3 to account for the glitches that occur in normal playback. But if more data is leaving the buffer than is going in to it, then the buffer will run out, and pause every thirty seconds or so. You could try going into OPTIONS -> PREFERENCES -> PLUGINS -> OUTPUT -> NULLSOFT WAVEOUT PLUGIN -> CONFIGURE , and increasing the size of the buffer there.

The other problem with winamp not going back to normal could be because it's a bad plugin. A lot of plugins are written by users of winamp, and while most of them are good, some of them have buggy code. You will find that a lot of plugins do not want to be removed, and leave a lot of crap on the system

The best advice I can give you is to uninstall Winamp, and re-install it again. And don't download that plugin again - it's not worth the problems it's causing you.

Guys,

I remember that the Pacemaker plug-in was buggy when used with Winamp 2.666 and later. This was mentioned on the author's website. A new version has just been released and seems to fix the problem.
Pacemaker : http://www.hut.fi/~oparviai/pacemaker/

Tip: always try to download a plug-in from the author's website rather than from winamp.com. This way, you can be sure to grab the latest version ;)
