Hey guys, since I don't think I can use the lone family car for all the things I want to do, I'm busily searching through classifieds and looking in web sites and going to car shows and I have a few choices, but what car would be a good one at under $22.5K in your opinions? Gratci.

s1138 19th February 2001 20:50

Beetle!!!!!:D the old ones!!! those are better
thats what im getting:D

Somebody 19th February 2001 20:53

Well.

Yeah, and old beetle, a nice Chevy Camaro, or a truck :)

xapec 19th February 2001 20:59

get a cheap jeep, they'll survive hell and back.

Junklord 19th February 2001 21:10

Beetles suck. Import a 1999 Holden VT Commodore, a Calais if you can afford it.

s1138 19th February 2001 21:13

they do not:mad:

beetle's RULE!!!

Junklord 19th February 2001 21:17

They look stupid and sound worse than a Harley. Get a real car. Buy a Holden. Sit back and relax knowing that you *are* better than everyone else.

Jstalilwyrd 19th February 2001 21:33

Beetles rock, Junklord. Especially ones that have been kept in awesome condition, not those run-down ones everyone drives around. But like the new ones, I don't get too much room, being I'm 5'11" with a small frame and really long legs.

The Camaro, I like late-'80s-'92 IROCs. The mouths on the new Camaros ('98-present) don't look all that nice, and on top of that, they have crappy mags for those things, otherwise I like the engine in it.

The Commodores look like our Cateras, and if I'm not mistaken, GM owns Holden (or Holden uses the GM chassis). They don't look too shabby, but I wouldn't go through the trouble of importing one though.

Trucks and jeeps... I flipped over in a Frontier Crew Cab during the summer on the freeway, didn't get hurt but it was quite a wreck. Being high off the ground freaks me out a bit after that whole fiasco.

Namelessv1 19th February 2001 21:40

Get a new mustang. Nuttin like ridin in a sports car, flippin off everybody u pass. :D

Well I'm 6'1" and 166 lbs, and I *do not* fit into small cars. GM does owns Holden.

Is this sort of what your Catera's look like?
What is $22 500 in AUD$? Must be about double. Buy a good car that can outrun a cop trying to give you a speeding ticket. I don't know what Toymota and Mitsushity market elsewhere in the world, but they make some nice fast cars that look good and aren't that expensive.

theelf 19th February 2001 22:48

Chevy Monte Carlo or a Ford F150(I know; not a car) the Monte Carlo is fairly quick and looks good although I like the truck better.

Jstalilwyrd 19th February 2001 22:53

Dawg: I'm considering a Mustang GT, though my mom's side of the family is anti-Ford. However, it looks nicer than the Camaro IMO. Maybe I can put a Roush package when I have the dinero.

Junklord: $22,500USD = $42,550AUD...

Here's a Catera...
http://www.comp.autosite.com/cadweb/...dshot/2525.jpg

Mitsubishis are overrated. Other than the Celica, Toyota's line looks crappy over here.

Jstalilwyrd 19th February 2001 22:59

Oh yeah, about outrunning the police... you must not have many chases in Australia? I live in Southern California. Out of all the chases here, only one guy's been able to make it to Mexico but he was caught anyway. :D And then you get the people who do that whole suicide thing.

theelf: I love the Monte Carlo, but would want nothing less than an SS.

tjb2004 19th February 2001 23:00

I know it's out of your price range but all I can say is, Hummer.http://cwm.ragesofsanity.com/s/cwm/twirl.gif

Jstalilwyrd 19th February 2001 23:04

I'll be paying out the ass for a Hummer :D

I sat in one at the Auto Show. Nice and big, but it's kind of cramped and it takes diesel. Not too many stations around my area have diesel unfortunately. That, and I'd be giving too many kids rides home from school though I could just mow them down. Hmm... :D

tjb2004 19th February 2001 23:08

Actually, it has two diesel tanks.

tjb2004 19th February 2001 23:10

They are cool though. And the cheapest on is only $80,000. http://cwm.ragesofsanity.com/s/cwm2/heee.gif

m3s3lf 19th February 2001 23:12

My suggestion

Old school mopar's the only way to go!! Check out my '72 challenger at http://shitcan.cjb.net =รพ

Jstalilwyrd 19th February 2001 23:13

I like that... "only $80,000" ;)

If only they had a "no interest, no payments till 2050" :D

tjb2004 19th February 2001 23:16

Yeah, I wish. Get one then leave the country. http://cwm.ragesofsanity.com/s/legionxs/wavey.gif

Jstalilwyrd 19th February 2001 23:23

m3s3lf: I love that Challenger, that's awesome! And I see you've got a girl too ;) If I had to go old school Mopar, a Cuda or a Charger Daytona/Superbird would be awesome. But if I had $80,000, I'd own Boardwalk, Park Place, and a new Viper :D

sgtfuzzbubble011 20th February 2001 00:22

Well.... I've got a '95 Chevy S-10 Super Sport and wouldn't trade it for anything in the world. :)

P.S.- There's a reason that General Motors is the largest corporation on the planet.... They're the best. :D

D-cibeL 20th February 2001 02:13

Jaguar all the way. I'm sure you can get an old one for $22.5

sgtfuzzbubble011 20th February 2001 02:15

Jaguar = Ford = Yucky

Corvette = Chevy = Yummy

:D

xapec 20th February 2001 02:29

yes ford bad, gm & dcx (daimler chrysler, as in mercades, jeep , chrysler, freightliner & dodge) good.

THAT CHALLENGER YOU HAVE KICKS ASS
i'd like one like it exept flame red with a 528hemi(damn 610hp, hemi engines kick ass)

sgtfuzzbubble011 20th February 2001 02:37

Eh.... Chrysler was good back in "tha day", but now they suck major Viking butt. You couldn't give me a Chrysler.

Heh, the Viper can only match the performance of the Corvette, but it costs twice as much as the Corvette and has none of the features...

tjb2004 20th February 2001 02:40

Aren't Vipers the fastest commercially available cars?

sgtfuzzbubble011 20th February 2001 02:44

Nope.

xapec 20th February 2001 02:46

yes chryslers suck, but i am not really a car person - i like dodge trucks and well chrysler fucked up jeep, I wish it was still AMC, then we could still have the J10 and commanche, and maybee they would have revived the CJ.
I like a few mercades but not all, and i dont think i'll be driving any semi's
(dcx is wthe worlds largest commercial vehicle producer, making american la france - freightliner - sterling - thomas built busses - detroit desiel - western star - and some other shit.)

sgtfuzzbubble011 20th February 2001 02:47

Matter of fact.... Motor Trend tested a Corvette not that long ago that takes that title. It was a tuner 'Vette, but it's street-legal and publicly available. It is the world's fastest street-legal sports car at 226mph, besting the McClaren F1...

tjb2004 20th February 2001 02:47

Darn, too slow. Never Mind.

xapec 20th February 2001 02:50

i never knew a vette went that fast, damn, talk about highway to hell.....

Hummer, and people say wish's may come true, yeah - right
http://www.hummer.com/h1/4dot/gallery/images/large6.jpg
like i'll ever have a Hummer, thats like drew caarrey being a ulimpic runner

weedsatan 20th February 2001 03:21

And the fastest commercial car is the Callaway Corvette.

Personally, I like the look of the old one better!

Jstalilwyrd 20th February 2001 03:41

OK guys, I'm not in a mid-life crisis. This is a first car people :D

Sarge and xapec: I saw the H2 at the LA Auto Show last month. It's really not all that great. Looks like AMC met up with Tonka and Meccano R&D people and made a 1:1 scale Erector set. :D I still like the H1. They only made 39 slant-backed H1's for this year. Very pricey.

Weedsatan: Yes, the Callaway is one fast mofo. I'll give it that, but where am I gonna pull 200+ other than getting a transporter and taking it to speedway? And I think the C5 Vettes are probably the best looking Vettes ever made, and I used to think the C4's looked cool but man, it looks ugly now. :D And Audi TT's are "chick" cars, I cannot see myself driving in something like that. And they suck. I love the Audi S4 though (does Justin have an A4 or an S4?)

And I like the Viper, the best looking car on the road IMO, though Dodge's better days were back "in tha day."

sgtfuzzbubble011 20th February 2001 03:48

But I like the "Tonka" look...
