Could anyone tell me what the difference is between a Senior Member and a Junior Member and just what a Major Dude is?

Anacific 3rd April 2001 03:26

the difference is the number of posts

:: 00 - 29 : Junior Member
:: 30 - 99 : Member
:: 100- 499: Senior Member
:: 500- ...: Major Dude

don't take it too seriously though...it doesn't matter ;)

tiger84 3rd April 2001 04:02

Well I wasn't really taking it too seriously...it's just that some of those posting messages look down on all of us junior members as newbies to Winamp (it's prejudice I tell you, PREJUDICE)...I personally have been using it since v.1.x. I remember life before skins, yes those were the days. While some junior members are nembies (junior users) to winamp, others are senior users with much experience.

it's just that some people try to post a lot of b.s. just to become members/seniors/majors

tiger84 3rd April 2001 04:18

I understand, I don't like those people too much either...esp. under the bitchlist category.

Namelessv1 3rd April 2001 06:33

Well, u dont gotta worry about me, man. Im not fulla b.s., im just fulla crap. I think after 1000 something posts, u get 2 change that little title of urs 2 wut ever u want.

Sam603 3rd April 2001 07:10

I usually look at the date to see how long a person's been registered on the forums. Take into concideration the amount of posts they made and then you can see who has been wasteing their life in these forums.
Dawg4Life2K1> Are you sure you aren't thinking about Mods?

jns 3rd April 2001 07:24

I'm not wasting my life! I have one! Just posting lots and lots of crap.:D

And the difference is, we Major Dudes get to do sexual favors for the mods..:rolleyes:

What is someone is just realy helpful and posts alot in the tec forums then u would be juging the unjustly, i personly think thay should only have 2 titles member amd mod, then you wont get post pumpers going for titles.

No. Custom titles are for mods only.

InvisableMan 3rd April 2001 11:55

can mods change the rank of someone regardless of his #of posts? for instance: Little_Johnny has 12 posts and Mod_X wants to change him to a major dude. can he do that?

Twilightseer 3rd April 2001 11:57

Yes, we can change anyone's title, regardless of their post count.

InvisableMan 3rd April 2001 12:03

hey that clears alot of things up. i was wondering what it takes to be a moderator?? like a certan post count or are you appointed by watadoo or another moderator...

Twilightseer 3rd April 2001 12:05

Post count has nothing to do with it. You have to be appointed personally by Watadoo.

InvisableMan 3rd April 2001 12:08

thats what i thought

Matt 3rd April 2001 13:58

Just going into my own world now, I was looking for something and came across information on numerous Vbulletin addons that are worth installing. Have they been considered for use here? or are you waiting for VBulletin 2?

On the subject of working out whether a person is useful or useless there are addons like this that could be used. A rating system for posts that is, so you can see who the idiots are. Probably useless, I like it, but then I would. I believe a similar thing is being added to VB2.

Also I saw another addon to notify moderators of certain posts (Sort of PM, they'd find out instantly, (if they were online )).
The hack was quicker than emailing them and is worth mentioning as on the odd occasion before I have seen posts that need editing. I post a request in the thread but as no moderator or administrator reads the post it goes unchanged.

Just an easier way to bring things to attention.
That's all, :)

Twilightseer 3rd April 2001 14:02

Well, Nullsoft plans to switch to version 2.0 of VBulletin. I mean that's what we were told. A while ago. :D ;)

PabUK 3rd April 2001 15:32

Why, what is going to be in VBulletin 2?

sgtfuzzbubble011 3rd April 2001 15:39

Lots of neet'o'keen stuff. :)

Jstalilwyrd 3rd April 2001 16:32

Mmm... kinky :D

Reducing page load time... we definitely need that.

a-arse 3rd April 2001 17:56

Private Messaging? Thats for chatlines.
What if some freak keeps sending you messages?

PabUK 3rd April 2001 20:37

You could just ignore them, or maybe there is a feature to turn them off.

tiger84 3rd April 2001 23:48

I didn't realize my post would get so many responces.

Matt 4th April 2001 00:22

Well you know what it's like here. People change the topic of the thread and it goes on and on.

InvisableMan 4th April 2001 00:30

why hasnt nullsoft put a chatroom in? i mean, im sure its crossed their minds.. but like a simple j-script one, or somthing.. im sure they have a good and obvious reason thats gonna make me look like a jackass for posting this  like i could look like a jackass  i make this board look good    :p :D

Matt 4th April 2001 00:46

they had one of EFnet (or another big irc network), but they took it down because all the hyperactive 14-year olds. (i'm offended).

about vb2: yes, we are going to upgrade sooner or later. i dont know when, but that's watadoo and frank (the tech guy)'s call. and, we sent in our own big long list of features we want to have implimented.

DeLiRiUmLB 4th April 2001 01:25

Personally, I like how in the Sonique forums*, you can change the Subtitle of your name to something more personal.

*I was very lonely one night so i decided to check out sonique. /me is very naughty.

PabUK 4th April 2001 01:45

Justin has a simple chat system at http://fdiv.org/chat/ so you could always use that.

wow that's... primitive :p
good idea though!

tomodachi 23rd February 2004 00:06

there r about 500 pages here.. if i bring up a post from every page, then i become a major dude

have the rules changed or they r still the same?

SSJ4 Gogitta 23rd February 2004 00:07

you're on your way to being banned, dipshit.

randman 23rd February 2004 00:08

Ban the dumbass! That post is all the reason you need! Please! I implore you! Stop him now!

tomodachi 23rd February 2004 00:13

why should i be banned? what rules did i break?

ScorLibran 23rd February 2004 00:13

Why would rules about post count possibly matter?

Post count has nothing to do with the respect you get. If your very first post as a new member is thoughtful, you'll get respect. If you have 5000 posts, and most are garbage, you'll lose respect.

Remember, it's quality that counts, not quantity.

And why do we have all these ancient thread resurrections, lately? :weird:

bored154 23rd February 2004 00:15

NOT ANOTHER OLD POST!!!!!!!!!! WHEN WILL IT END!!!!!!!!!???????????
