Hi all,
My first post, I recently got my new computer and it's had hardware conflicts galore, after several weeks stability is ALMOST achieved...

Anyways, since I got WinAMP 2.74, I've been using the overlay feature of the avs and setting it to my windows grey colour (looked soooo cool with custom AVS) but I rebooted my system after some registry changes and it stopped working, -<sob>-

I had to remove a few VDXs from the registry to make my computer work, and I fear one of them allowed me to use the overlay... The one I have no idea what it is for is VMCPD.VXD, does anyone know how to make the overlay work or what else might have caused it to die??

Thanks,
RicMoo

Okay, I was just playing around with the overlay. Now if you have a picture that fills up the entire desktop you will not beable to see the overlay, even if the image has the overlay color in it. If that isn't the problem, you could try reinstalling Winamp again, but before you do, back up your registry. So if your computer becomes unstable after installing Winamp, you can always just install the backup. Other than that I don't know how to help because I never noticed the overlay before (stupid me0.

Just a quick tip, before doing any registry edit (and I mean any) backup your registry. It isn't a good idea to edit it without backing it up.

Yeah, I back up my registry daily... My system is already unstable beyond belief... I'll reformat the stupid thing soon and just start from scratch, but reinstalling winamp was the first thing I tried, without success...

BTW, isn't the overlay a REALLY cool feature?!? I've got everyone at work using it now, since I have shown them what it can do... Even the people that had never heard of WinAMP (Yes, in a software company!!)

Anyways, thanks... Off to formatting now...

It's all good!!

Well,
Thanks all, but a simple reformatting of my drive, re-installing windows and all the drivers for my system and my software and all is good..

*cheers*

Yes, I love the feeling of a freshly reformated compter (purposely mispelled). I was playing around with overlay a little more and found if the set to desktop color is checked and there is a picture the overlay will not show up, but if that box is unchecked then it will show up on what ever color you picked.
