In adding files to the playlist it will be helpful if there is an additional window which indicates which all files you have selected, keeping the selections valid even if you select a file from a different folder.

Can you geniuses out there do something about this?

The 'add file' dialog is managed by windows and as windows does not allow to select files from multiple directories it isn't possible. I'm afraid you have to continue adding the files directory-by-directory or by the 'add dir' function.

I feel that post is slightly misleading. Although the Open File dialog is managed by Windows, the API provides two mechanisms to enable the developer to provide additional functionality.

1) They can specify a dialog template to add new controls to the dialog box, and;
2) They can specify a hook function to capture the standard dialog messages and process messages for these new controls.

It's fair enough to say that a piece of work isn't worth doing for whatever reason, but it's not good enough to just point the finger at Windows and sigh, "We'd like to but...".

I didn't mean to be misleading, I just didn't know that you could implement an own message handling mechanism.

That's OK, it's a fairly obscure part of the API that I've never actually used in anger myself :D, but you can read all about it here http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/ps...mdlg3_3cbp.htm.

However, I've written a bit of software to upload files to a Rio500 player, and I got exactly the same feedback from my testers (it's anoying when you want to select one file from each directory). As a result I'm looking in to using my own template to make adding files easier.

Thanks a lot!

Yes,I think Jet Audio has an option similar to your software.

Thanks.
