Download the latest drivers for your CD-ROM drive and your soundcard. Make sure the cable between your CD-ROM and your soundcard is properly and securely connected.

its not teh cd rom drive
Its not the CD ROM Drive because I can play cds on windows media or any other program, it just wont play cd's on winamp for some reason, not sure if I accidentally disabled something by accident or not.

no sound on CD
I have had this problem before and I found the answer somewhere on this board, but I can t find it! I have just reinstalled winamp and it doesnt play CDs. Everythig else does. In the past, it was a configurations problem, but I cant remember what I had to change. I have disabled sampling/cddb. I have edited the direct sound. I have never had to open regedit or download a pluging (which did not work anyway!). Does anyone know of other configuration issues? It may have been in the system sound properties, but I have been through it and everything is fine.

and NO. CD volume is not muted!

I think there is a new native Nullsoft plug-in for CDs. Maybe it needs to be configured???
|
I am certain this is a configuration problem as I have solved in the past! I just cant remember!

Check out some of these threads for a possible answer:
From TSGH Forum: No sound coming from CD's No sound playing a CD From: TSGH -> Useful Links More info c/o "Problems with AudioCD" section |
seen them! They dont cover the problem.

Have same problem....
I am currently having a similar problem and have tried many of the same solutions.... My problem is that Winamp will play cd's from one drive but not the other???? Any Ideas on how to fix??? Wish I could help you out.

I discovered that both Win 2K and ME are missing a codec. I installed it and the problem is solved. (in past, I usually had this installed to all I had to do was configure winamp)! Thanks fro trying.

What is a Codec and how can I get it?
|
Yes, Wind, for the benefit of everyone else, please tell us which codec was missing & where you got it from.
However, you don't need any codecs to play audio CD's, so I'm a bit confused here . . . maybe you meant a Device Driver (.sys .drv .vxd file) or a Media Control Device? Caflyguy Codec stands for Compressor/Decompressor. To see a list of all audio & video codecs installed, goto: Multimedia Control Panel -> Devices tab. Audio Codecs are represented by the .ACM files in your Windows\System dir. ACM stands for Audio Compression Manager. More than likely, what Wind was referring to would've been under: Media Control Devices -> CD Audio Device Check that this device exists & that it is enabled under "Properties" "Use this Media Device" should be checkmarked; Status should say "this device is enabled & working properly" However, you've said earlier that you can play CD's ok with WMP, so it's unlikely that this is even your problem! For now, all I can suggest is that you goto: Winamp Prefs -> Input -> CD Plugin -> config Uncheck: "sample input from soundcard" Windows Volume Control Make sure CD Audio is selected & the slider is up high enough. |
I have the same proublem with Winamp it won't play my cd's.
