I "upgraded" to Windows 2000 and now Winamp will not play. I get an error message telling me waveOut plugin v2.3 is in used by another device, which it is not. I have uninstalled Winamp and re-installed and get the same error. Any suggestions?

Prefs -> Output -> WaveOut -> config:
Change "Output Device" from WaveMapper to one that best describes your soundcard. If the problem persists: Change to DirectSound plugin (Prefs -> Output) More info (from TSGH): RE: MMSYSTEM004 Error (Device already in use) http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?threadid=35637 http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?threadid=26288 http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?threadid=32707 http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?threadid=31953 http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?threadid=31545 http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?threadid=25764 http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?threadid=31957 http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?threadid=19337 btw, did you also reinstall Winamp after upgrading to Win2k ? |
figured it out. When windows 2000 loaded, it killed some of the drivers. Had to re-installed the drivers, re-installed Winamp and all works fine. Windows 2000 isn't as friendly as you would expect.

I would be so surprised I would crap myself if I ever found an M$ product that actually is friendly.
