I like easy cd-da extractor, but i wanna know what u think about it...
|
Hmmm, Easy CDDA Extractor is actually a CD ripper, while also offering a GUI for several MP3 encoders (it only ships with LAME, though). IMHO, Easy CDDA Extractor sucks ass ... Almost not configurable, slow, bloated ... ... I personally prefer Audiograbber as ripper :). Fast, easy to use while everything is configurable. I don't really like EAC, 'cause it's too buggy and does not produce better quality rips than Audiograbber.
For MP3 encoders, LAME is the best choice for both CBR and VBR / ABR encodings. Superb quality, even outperforms the Fraunhofer codecs :). Drawback is a little lack in speed, imho ( on my old P2-233 MMX, I get around 0.6 - 0.9x encoding speed on HQ VBR mode ). The Fraunhofer codecs are great for CBR encodings, but lack of decent VBR support. But since LAME became better and better, there is almost no reason to use the rather old Fraunhofer codecs anymore ;). The Xing codecs are blazingly fast, but really suck in the quality department ... Horrible frequencies, cut off at 16 khz and even below. But incredibly fast encoding ... .. . I recommend using LAME for MP3 encoding, the little more time it needs to encode compared to other codecs is really worth it! :D Check http://www.r3mix.net for quality comparisons of different codecs etc. Peace. |
Lame kicks Fraunhofer's ass. The only thing I use Fraunhofer for is encoding files other than 44kHz, such as files recorded at 22kHz... I would make that a 56kbps stereo 22kHz mp3 with Fraunhofer.

1st choice - Lame Encoder
2nd choice - Blade Encoder |
huh ? I'm using Xing Audio Catalyst and it works fine...
|
Xing? Haha, good one. You crack me up El1jah666 :D:D:D
But you are kidding, right? |
Xing Audiocatalyst 2.1 with the Xing Mp3 encoder, fast but makes poor quality mp3s.
Why not to use programs with Xing's MP3 encoder: http://www.r3mix.net http://fastforward.iwarp.com http://home.wanadoo.nl/~w.speek/listeningtest.htm |
I always use LAME, because the quality is the best, when you believe all the webreviews
|
newest version of lame, plus CDex, works good for me.
I just wish it was faster... i think ill sacrifice quality for time... |
For ripping cds I use Media Jukebox (J River) and its internal encoder.
For other sound clips I use Electronic Cosmo' MPEG Suite 1.2. It's pretty fast and reliable. It comes shipped with three encoders: Ec98Enc, BladeEnc and Plugger+ |
LAME + CDex = perfection

Cosmo's MPEG Suite 1.5.5 http://ec2000.xperiment.net/ But I still stay with LAME + Razorlame |
For slightly damaged CD's I use AudioGrabber... I make sure error correction is on, and if it's in really bad condition I set the rip speed down to 1x or 2x.
|
For cd 'ripping' - CDex
and encoding to mp3 - LAME with RazorLame. |
links damnit! links!
