All my CD-ROMs are being seen as Audio CDs, and they always show the single CDA file in my file explorer. Is this a problem with WinAMP? I can't even put my Windows 98 CD into the computer without having the computer see it as an Audio CD... I'm so confused!
Help! Thanks in advance, CokoBWare |
Its not a winamp problem, sounds more like a windows problem.
Does it do this in windows explorer or just winamp? |
Sounds like you have the wrong drivers installed for your CD-ROM. Go to the companys homepage and download the correct drivers.

Hmmm.... strange... what version of Windows are you using? What brand/model is your CDROM drive?
BTW ethan, usually the only Windows drivers for CDROM drives are made by Microsoft (unless it's a really weird CDROM drive) Are there any DOS CDROM drivers being loaded before Windows? |
Yes, I've gotta say that this is most certainly a weird one!
We definitely need to know what version of Windows you've got! I could understand if you were using Win95 a/b, but not Win95c (OSR2.5) or any higher. If there's no CDA files on the CD-ROM then I don't see how Windows or any other software can interpret it as an AudioCD. My suggestion, for now, is to goto Winamp Prefs (Ctrl+P) -> File Types Uncheck: "Associate with AudioCD" Close Prefs & exit Winamp. Now try inserting a data CD in the drive & see what happens. |
