If you were in Israel right now, wouldn't you be packing your bags and heading to where the coconuts grow and bikinis are in fashion. I just read that a probable suicide bomber exploded and made fish food out of what was mostly teens having fun, waiting in line at a local disco by the beach. At least 17 dead so far.
My question is this:
With all eyes of the world watching, is it really fruitful to kill kids in order to bring attention to your suffering?

Childish games at both ends. But it's a shame when real children are brought into the equation.

weedsatan 1st June 2001 23:31

It's a stupid war...
and they still don't realise none of them can win it...

rm' 1st June 2001 23:34

Sure someone sure can. If America ever becomes serious, the Arabs are done for. On the other hand, if there is an about face, say goodbye to Zion.

And it's not really stupid if you consider what is at stake.

s1138 1st June 2001 23:38

its a shame all this hate takes place in "the holy land"

pAk 1st June 2001 23:38

I think it is a shame that people use religion to justify these things. It is a disgrace that they kill children, in an attempt to terrorise others into submission. In the eyes of the world it is shameful and cowardly. they never seem to realise that terror only unites people in their hatred against them, encouraging people to make sure that their demands are not met

It is also worth remembering that they do not view the deaths of children any worse than that of adults - In their so called religious and just eyes - the unbelieving children are just as bad as unbelieving adults

To answer you question:

This is too far:

In my view, its barbaric and psychotic. And the scary thing is, its just gonna get worse.

Aeroe 1st June 2001 23:54

Palestians will never listen to the US, cuz we supply all the hi-tech weaponry to Israel.

Need the UN to step in, with the US not present.

bout all i can think of...

Yes, especially considering the younger generation are just as rotten to the core as their parents. There was an episode of ABC's Nightline recently, about an initiative called "Seeds of Hope" (or peace). Anyhow, they took a group of Palestinian and Israeli teens, and put them in a camp type of thing... they made a video, and everything. They made friends, blah blah blah... anyhow, when they returned to their respective homes, even though they said they enjoyed the experience and thought of each other as friends, they said that they considered each side enemies. One of them joined the Israeli army (requirement of all college/high school grads) as a sniper... he said if he was ordered, he would shoot the kid brother of his Palestinian friend.

Even in the West, tensions are high, and racism on both sides are unacceptable. This is why I hate multiculturalism... kids have so many misconceptions... Jews over here think that all Muslims are violent psychopaths who should all be locked up, and Muslims (even non-Palestinian, non-Arab ones) think jews rule the world, and are all out to get and massacre Muslims.

The UN is useless. It failed the people of Iraq, it failed the people of Cyprus, and holds no real power other than to legislate useless, unenforceable resolutions. NATO needs to get involved. The region is dangerously close to Turkey, and the presence of relatively neutral countries such as Canada and the UK should help things.

How they fight it...

ElChevelle 2nd June 2001 00:13

To see kids carrying assault weapons and hurling rocks at tanks hint to the abused impressionability of teenagers, especially by their parents. This thing has gotten passed down through the ages and no end is near. It's really too bad that people can only draw their own conclusions and disavow their parents' brainwashing til later on in life.

Can't wait to see Xerxes' thoughts on this:)

rm' 2nd June 2001 00:14

All wars and conflicts are fought in mean and underhanded ways. After all, the purpose of war is to win.

weedsatan 2nd June 2001 00:17

Then why not launch a full scale ar and get it over with...

rm' 2nd June 2001 00:20

Because Palestine isn't officially a country, so Israel can't declare war on it. Secondly, the bad media, and involvement of close by nuclear-capable countries would be disastrous.

weedsatan 2nd June 2001 00:25

but the way it is going Palestina will be gone soon..
Israel still keeps on bulding houses in there..
Palestinians get more and more agitated..
I tell ya it's going to burst...

ElChevelle 2nd June 2001 00:26

The bomb was strapped to the attacker and spewed out bullets and nails when he detonated it in a crowd of youngsters waiting outside the club, police said.

"I saw people lying on the floor. Some had no legs, no arms."

Cars within a 20-meter (yard) radius were spattered with blood and human flesh, their windows shattered. Bloodied first aid bandages and discarded water bottles lay all around.

"There were people blown apart, limbs strewn everywhere," said Avi, a waiter from a nearby nightclub.

EXCELLENT PR for the Palestinians!
Hey Mr. Arafat? Better strap on 2 flak jackets tonight.

I've read a few of Tom Clancy's books but haven't gotten to that one. In the middle of Rainbow Six at present. Any idea which it is?

rm' 2nd June 2001 00:46

No, but it was one of the earlier ones. I don't think Jack Ryan was introduced yet... not sure of that, though.

and thanks for the link.

Huehuetenango 2nd June 2001 02:43

it's disturbing, this war, and the scary thing is, i have no idea why it is going on, i need to start following the news more

but the thing is, while i agree that someone should step in and try to stop it, why does everyone always assume it will be the u.s.?
what gives them the power to dictate to the rest of the world what to do? (other than having a really strong military)(sorry, we're discussing this in my history class and it's bugging me)

and i dont' see how a suicide bomber cna think that blowing up a ton of innocent kids will improve his side's position any

ElChevelle 2nd June 2001 02:44

WoW! I was just BANNED from CNN chat over this subject.
Appreciate the freedom you have here, forumgoers!
I guess they didn't appreciate my comments:
[*]Wanted: 1 Nuclear weapon in good condition.
Contact Joe Arafat 555-6793
[*]Seeking relationship with short range nuclear weapon. Enjoy long rides aboard rocket boosters and fireworks.
[*]For Sale: One Nuke, low miles, one owner

It's a sad thing they accept the constant state of war as fate, just because some ancient scriptures say so.

[*] because America had a hand in creating the state of Israel[*] they are the only remaining world power with any semblance of just that; power[*] because of the military; you can't police if you have no policemen

Namelessv1 2nd June 2001 03:57

Well, for those who follow Biblical prophecies, and for those who dont, its all falling into place. The time till armageddon is running down. Judgement day could be coming sooner than some people think.

NeoRenegade 2nd June 2001 06:03

Palestinians are phucked up. Just look - they think that Israel is trying to take them over. When Israel declares a complete cease-fire, the Palestinians taunt them with the aim of starting the fighting again!

They don't think, they know that there land has been taken over. Problem is, it's just as hard to get someone who's been living somewhere for 50 years to move as it is to get someone who's been living somewhere for 500 years to move.

Like I said, childish games on both sides.

grrr... this one riles me up

You would think that a small strip of land that has
been almost continuously at war since the time of King David (Biblical conflicts, occupation by assyria, then babylon, then persia (xerxes!:)) then greece, than rome, than byzantine conflicts than all 13 or so crusades, than turkish wars, than ottoman wars, WWI, WWII, wars with egypt, wars with palestine) would be up on the idea of giving it a rest ...

But no. They are STUCK on rebuilding the temple. (Remember,
its been destroyed more than once in history) Personally I
think the whole eartly isreal is irrelevant to YHWH- why would he care anymore about it?

The isrealites were naive and ignorant of history to think that they would be left alone in their little tract of given land; they would have none of these problems if they would have say... found a pacific island or a small piece of Argentina or something....

The only way to solve the problem is ... through power diplomacy. An aircraft carrier is 100,000 tons of pure diplomacy The US created this little monster- the US
should end it. There needs to be an ultimatum- stop killing each other and forge something by the end of this year or both isreal and palestine will be on the US's plate! A US occupation would solve everything...

Because, frankly I am tired of seeing the static headline on yahoo news "20 brown people killed by ____ bomb"

NeoRenegade 2nd June 2001 08:23

We haven't had a good war in a while.

The USA should give Israel a sh!tload more weapons than they already have, and for the heck of it give the Palestinians some too, and film them wiping each other out over the next couple of months :D

rm' 2nd June 2001 08:28

If Israel had any more weapons, we'd have a manmade Gulf of Mexico .

Xerxes 2nd June 2001 09:07

It is a disturbing fact that Isreal is second in the world after the US in Military Laser technology...

In the words of Bubsy the Bobcat- "what could possibly go wrong?" ;)

rm' 2nd June 2001 09:12

And that it takes approximately 15 minutes to fly across their country, yet they have one of the top 5 air forces in the world.
