winamp is by far the best playeri've ever used. But from time to time it will freeze up my entire system and the sound goes into that 2 second annoying repeat. The only way to stop it has been to kill it with the power switch. I dont have anything spiffy running with winamp (like skins, the mpeg dancer)... and this has even happened when the only thing i had running on my system was winamp. Other times it will run fine even when im online (a digital connection) and doing a million things. I havnt found any correlation as to when it freezes, it just does. I havnt put anything new into mysystem like a soundcard or anything. And i even uninstalled and reinstalled winamp and it still does it. Im not really good at computer jargon, so please go easy on me (lol). any ideas ??? my father is a computer geek and didnt think my computer specs would be causing it, but oyu never know. |
Could you post your system specifications here?

ok, lets see if i can find all this stuff....
i dont know what you need to know but i';; type in exactly what i found under settings-system-performance 60 mb (420 free, more if i could get my darned burner going) 33% free system resources 32 bit file system (same for virtual memory) disk compression not installed (i'll let my father do that !) and it says here, system configured to optimum performance... (?) i did a defragmentation just a week ago, prior to i was getting a lot of crashes with winamp, but now i seem ot be getting a few more. Also i upgraded today and it seems a lot better, but still crashing. I really dont know where to find what you need to know about my system. I just know how to play with this thing, as far as im concerned there's little green men inside making magic happen ! LOL Thanks ~ravenfeathers |
