my mom wants me to get one. but i dont want to work at a food place (i like to eat)
its not like jobs are limited. they are building like 6 plazas at the moment.

but its not like i can drive myself to the interview. thats all thats stopping me from getting a job

radioshack, best buy, circuit city...

s1138 8th June 2001 01:20

someones trying to increase their post count;). im gonna delete one of those for ya.

If you live in southern california- the In and Out burger chain is a super place to get a job... 8.00 an hour, paid vacations and health benefits for working fast food is pretty snazzy.

Best buy is a good employer. Circuit city is notorious for evil do or die selling quotas...

Movie theatres are also OK... (right bizznatch? :) )

Jstalilwyrd 8th June 2001 05:20

Xerxes... $8.25/hour, paid vacations, health benefits, and the kicker... paid food, at In-N-Out (I could eat their burgers and fries forever... heh). I'll be applying there soon, and it's the only way I can get their darn paper hats (they don't give 'em out like Krispy Kreme... bleh). Hmm... maybe I should apply to Krispy Kreme too... heh.

I hear Best Buy is a good employer as well... 25% discount on their goodies, me thinks... plus there are a lot of toys to play around when days are slow. :D I've sent in my app.

And my friend worked at AMC two summers ago. He says it's not fun... though you get to see movies ahead of time, and quite possibly get in on some movie posters and sell them on eBay for extra bucks. :D

My friend works every summer at Cineplex Odeon, and gets as many free tix as he wants. Sweet deal, if you ask me. Since he's up to his 4th year now, he gets $16.00 CAN. Plus, his little bro has insured emplyoment, once he starts looking for a job himself.

NeoRenegade 8th June 2001 06:27

I'm starting work full-time for the summer as a general blue-collar worker for my city's public works dept.

36hours/week, $8.00/hour

It's pretty decent... once I've saved up enough money for school books for september (probably 2 weeks' salary), I'm going to go crazy spending every payday :D:D

Don't work at Circuit City or CompUSA either.

ElChevelle 8th June 2001 21:13

Yea, I'd rather foster a career at McDonald's:rolleyes:

fish 8th June 2001 21:41

I'd personally like to be one of those guys at BestBuy or CompUSA who are less than half the age of most costomers but knows more about electronics than most of the costomers. :)

I'd already like that at school, putting teachers in awe/shock whenever I "work my miracles" as they call it

NeoRenegade 9th June 2001 00:07

Teachers are actually remarkably stupid.

I had a high-school computer teacher who insisted that MP3's and MIDI's are one and the same, and that whenever you want to cut something in windows, you have to do Ctrl+C and then Ctrl+X to properly cut it.

Of course I had a little fun with him once - I used raw AVI's for a powerpoint project I had to do, which filled up his hard drive and took about 20 minutes to copy from the CD (which I told him had to be done), which, because his computer is so slow, didn't let him do much else at the same time.

And of course it was a hobby of mine and several other students to get past the security on the computers and generally fuck them up (pulling a switcheroo on My computer and Recycle Bin, making people think that My Computer is empty). And who can forget putting hardcore images and bad language as the desktop background? :D:D:D

a word of advice: DON"T work at supermarkets, or anywhere else related to food that you like to eat, i worked at the raw meat department of loblaws last summer, IT WAS DISGUSTING!!!!! i went vegetarian for the summer

now i work at Mastermind (a toy store) and i LOVE it. i get paid to play w/ toys some days

John M 9th June 2001 03:03

phish - i kno where your coming from
NR - last year we just waltzed into the server, got copies of tests, and changed screensavers (gotta love the marquee... :D). a buddy of mine at a different school had over 3 gig of mp3 on the central server, thanks to napster.

NeoRenegade 9th June 2001 03:33

I remember a screensaver I got somewhere called Marquee Plus or something like that... basically Marquee on crack... you can have text scroll diagonally and have more than one message to alternate between and shit like that.

InvisableMan 9th June 2001 03:39
