every time i try to play a movie or stream a movie or do anything with quick time, the sound gets all chopy and starts to echo etc etc, it's just plain crapy!



any ideas?

My solution was to get a new computer :) Quicktime is a fucking resource hog. If you just upgraded to QT5, try downgrading to 4 if you can find it. It's requirements are more and more demanding with each new version. Other than that I guess.. just try closing any other open programs to free up resources

i have 128mb of ram on a p111 533.. does quick time really take that much ram???

Nope :) Your system sounds fine -- I was getting choppy sound on a p200/32mb :)
The first thing I would check is if Quicktime is using DirectSound for audio output. If it is, change it to something else like Windows Default or whatever else there might be. If this doesn't work, updating drivers often fixes things. See if you're using the latest drivers from the manufacturer of your soundcard.
