It's very rare that a corporation would admit its pricing is unreasonable...

http://www.demyth.net/img/sonycliead.gif

(For your info, HK$3980 is about US$510. HK$1580 is about US$203.)

ElChevelle 16th June 2001 11:36

:D
Chev appreciates the time griffinn spent making the spiffy gif to illustrate his point:)
Kudos dude!

griffinn 16th June 2001 12:26

Gee thanks. I'm getting quite proficient at marking stuff with the red spray-paint tool, so it didn't take long really. :D

Ice 16th June 2001 15:55

reasonably priced? sony? no way.

sony stuff is usually pretty damn expensive compared to other brands... usually shows you got money. *notes the sony dvd player and all in my roon*

a-arse 16th June 2001 16:00

Sony sucks. All my sony stuff screwed up:
Radio - Alarm just..stopped
Tv - Blew up (according to brother)
So now I stick with Sharp

RaiSX 16th June 2001 18:01

eh sony or bust :D

Only two brands i buy are sony and panasonic. Ive never had a problem with any and ive owned quite a few of their products :) sure they might be pricey but youlook around you will get a bargain or two and to me its worth it.

fish 16th June 2001 18:06

LOL :D

Lucid DM 16th June 2001 18:34

Erm. When it says "More reasonably priced". It's suggesting that the one you're looking at is already reasonable priced, but there's another one which is even *more* reasonable. :)

[edit] Hey a-a. There, you have *two* things. One of them sounds like you just didn't replace the battery :) and the other one is only according to your brother.
Woah! Loads of evidence there! :D [/edit]

Exactly. I buy Sony because:

1) Most of their profits go to R&D, making the product I bought obsolete within 3 months, but makes me happy nonetheless
2) I've never had a problem with build quality, performance, etc.
3) -->Prestige<-- :)

Huehuetenango 16th June 2001 19:26

ibm stinkpad <<It really sucks that llama's D***!

ecstatic 16th June 2001 21:53

I don't have any brand loyalty whatsoever, I just buy what I think is best for the money... looking around the room here, I see:

Sony MD deck (x2)
Visioneer USB Scanner
Hitachi 17" monitor
JBL speakers
Cambridge Soundworks "multimedia" speakers
Sony clock radio
Technics SL1200MK2 turntable (hey, I got it for $120 :D )
Yamaha CD changer
Philips portable CD player
Sennheiser headphones
Technics receiver

Of course, my TV downstairs is a joke, it's 3 months younger than I am (19 years old :-).

hekk04 16th June 2001 23:10

ridiculous prices and top-of-the-line(for now) products are part of sony's history. oh well.

ElChevelle 17th June 2001 02:28

I like Sony and all but their latest exploits have left me feeling puzzled about their marketing tools:

In promotional commercials for "The Patriot" last year, they showed a couple following their viewing of the movie. The girl said "This is the perfect date movie"
Turns out that the couple were employees of their marketing department.

Then for "The Animal", their newspaper ads carried claims of how great a movie it was......written by a fictitional movie critic.

Hmmm.....

Hmmm.....

You realize, of course, that it's standard industry practice to get reviews written by critics before they even have critic screenings... You get about 1 grand to endorse a prewritten blurb with your name.

ElChevelle 17th June 2001 03:06

The newspaper this guy writes for is real, the guy is not.

rm' 17th June 2001 03:10

Big deal. Just stretching a lie for all it's worth. It's all the rage in Spin City.

ElChevelle 17th June 2001 03:23

False advertisement, as far as I'm concerned, though I rarely use any of the critic's, naysayer's opinions when opting for movies.

For example, I plan on taking Chev Jr. to see "Tomb Raider" Monday though it is being panned by critics here.

rm' 17th June 2001 03:28

"SONIQUE 1.90 ยท The Ultimate Audio Player"

That's not false advertisement?

incidentally, thier site design changed

ElChevelle 17th June 2001 03:35

Must check out the competition, haven't visited lately:)
