I started work on a new skin, but I'm not sure it's all working out

for one I really wanted to keep the Cbuttons simple and small so I wouldn't cover the pic under it, so I went with tiny transparant white buttons, cept when I started on the shuffrep, I realized they don't really fit with the rest of the skin. So before I wast any time, it already takes me long enough to make a skin, I wanted to ask your opinion.

Has anybody ever told any other"skin lover" to stop working on a projet because it was ugly???

I didnt think so, and it wont start today, I like the skin, very cool, nice layer working and with all pic skins, CButtons are always small.

You're right about the Suffle button, it doesnt go. If you dont mind me asking, who is on the skin?

the controls in the vis area is cool you should do that for shuf/rep.... have it start out as a rounded square, and animate it to open.....

Just a few suggetion, feel free not to listen.

the more I think about it the more I think about changing the shuffrep, though I'm not sure I really like the Cbuttons either, Oh well, maybe if I sleep on it the right answer will come to me.

BTW the gal in the pic is natalie Portman, in her Star Wars episode 2 costume, it's a Star wars skin, just havn't decided yet where to put the star wars logo.

My suggestion for the cbuttons comes from what you've done for the OAIDV - blue circles with a grey edge. You could maybe make them turn yellow for the pressed state? I just think making the controls more neutral (ie not yellow) means they don't distract from the images as much.

Keep going though and with Natalie Portman on it you'll end up with a very popular skin.:)

Thought about doing that, but didn't do it cause I thought it might cover the pic too much, Oh well might as well try it, if i don't like it i've always got those small buttons as a backup plan.

did some more work on the titlebar and tried something else with the Cbuttons, still not completly happy since it partially covers an eye, though I don't think I can do much about that short of redoing just about everything I've done so far and move the head.

anyway I'm calling it quits for tonight since it's almost 4 am.

Well, I'd say to make the numbers.bmp/num_ex.bmp transparent type, using the color area you have defined.

As for the cbutton row...I think the current buttons are very good but, perhaps, using a 1pixel wide white hue that ecompasses the whole of the cbutton row would be enough to seperate it. I'm not very good at making skins so perhaps, my input is not as beneficial as it would seem. As for the Shuf/Rep I personally like them even though they are indeed different than the cbutton row. However, functionally they are a great deal different and perhaps, having them set apart is a great idea.

Anyways, its a great start as far as pic skins go...however, not much in the way of new or innovation that I can see...but, again what do I know.

I like, SW rocks, but as a "former" image skinner myself, I know what your going thru with those buttons, WA3 is gonna be such a blessing for image skinners :D

Thing is Mr Jones. There are gonna be a *lot* of pic skins that are huge. Not file size, but actual screen space.

I can see that going the same way some SoundJam skins have with the controls in a 'plinth' with the character/person standing/lying on top.

Only other suggestion for Mr_Tough_Guy is 'barely there' buttons - like the original ones but with no edge and paler (they might look a bit skinner-ish though). Or trace the corners/edges of the actual button areas very faintly and have the symbol appear only when it's pressed?

6. Adidas- I think its one of the ones under sports category on main skins page

9. This orange and black one that I accidentaly deleted and forgot its name
10. Finally one made by a fellow skin lovin' forumite- that one batman one

decided to move the head anyway, took me about 2 hours to fix the damage I did because I hadn't saved all the layers. looks a lot better though if i do say so myself.

And kinwashi maybe a skin lover forumite person but I hardly see him here, and he barely has any post at winamp 3 diss., also the aim name i saw at deviant art kinwashi2, he's never on that, i took ICQ off my computer so i don't know if he has that, i haven't seen a skin from him in a while cept the winamp3 one, so basically i never hear him, never see him, i don't even ever smell him, just like the zeus guy, therefore i count him as not here.

Even the Britnay Spears skin in the most popular skin is better than all those skinner skins out there....
3-3.5 for britnay, most of the stars go for effort and love given to it by the author...

not really fond of metal skins, in fact I think I only have picture skins, and Act2 Finale is kinda on the edge

MTG - I hate to say it, but I don't like any of your buttons or sliders. Well, let me rephrase that. I don't like them in conjunction with the background image you have, which is quite nice.

What I don't like - the colors, and the disjointed nature. What about perhaps a beveled area to tie all those buttons together? like in this skin. Heh, I know the material isn't exactly the same, but it was the first one that came to mind. But even if you don't want to do that, you'd win me over if you'd increase the transparency on your buttons, or change their color scheme to something more in keeping witht the orangish/black colors you have going.

Just my two cents, a day late and a dollar short.

Oh, and why not put the star wars logo: In the vis area, on the EQ titlebar, above the songname bar, or in the volume/balance area? If you did that, you could do a moving highlight for your volume slider.

Anyway. just ideas. I'll understand if you disregard them, seeing how you've already done a few updates. Keep us posted. :D

Thanx for the input BullGawD, your right the Buttons and sliders don't really fit with the background, The thing is I always have trouble with the equalizer sliders, and I usually end up with something really simple, So this time I really wanted to do something special, and after seeing a Star wars pic that had some sliders in it I decided to base them on that. When I finished the sliders however I did notice they didn't really fit. But I didn't want to trow away the slider or the background, I even thought about doing 2 separate skins, but in the end it kinda grew on me and I decided to go with it as was.

I like the blace of the SW logo but I'd move it some pixels to the right, away from Natalie's face.
Ah. and the cuttleBar is a bit too bright for me...maybe make it more transparnt, just like the cbuttons?
no idea for shufrep...but more transparency could be better...;)
PS Make sure to post a link here when ypu're finished ...coz I think it's a very nice skin...don't wanna miss it :)
