I know Winamp 3 is in Alpha release, but here are my rants:

First off, Winamp 3 looks like it will rule when you guys finish it. I really like the idea of the "thinger" and script assignments. I need to learn scripting and skinning for Winamp 3, so if anyone has any docs on how to do it, feel free to tell me.

My only complaint thus far: the AVS editor window refuses to close. You have to shut down Winamp to close it. In fact, I can't get the window to go away. Whenever I start Winamp 3, the editor window popps up, and won't disapper :(.

Besides that, the new Winamp is rockin'!

AVS

The same thing happened to me. It was simply because I had the vis. docked in the configuration window. Double clicking on the vis. should bring it out, then you can close it normaly.

SWEET!

THANX MAN!

Now my Winamp3 kicks even more ass!

One that pisses me off about WA3 Alpha 667 is that I couldn't get any of the skins that worked in previous alphas up and running! And I'm still looking for the preferences menu and the capability to play more music than MP3 and WAV!

jackcaveman 31st August 2001 22:10

erm, that's right it's a alpha, so WA3 only supports mp3 and wavz, that will be fixed in the final version (I hope so...)

you're right ;)

banjoe-john 1st September 2001 00:04

once they incorporate MIDI support into winamp, it'll be kick ass. I hope they do it soon too.

banjoe-john 1st September 2001 00:43

jackcaveman 1st September 2001 10:08

sig

No I Can't see your sig...
It's -1 bite, so make it a bit bigger...
IE 5, win 98

SuperH 1st September 2001 13:36

completely ot here, but banjoe john, you cant image host from geocities, it wont let you. try www.spree.com

QHOBBES 1st September 2001 17:38

I dont know if this is WA3 fault or MusicMatches fault but you can't
play PLs from MM in WA3 and you can't play PLs from WA2 in MM. I
thought PLs were suppose to be backwards compatible...?

banjoe-john 1st September 2001 21:04

dude! i got it now. angelfire. it's a VERY simple sig. made with animation shop. have no idea why its -1 byte but it's not that small.

i want a "dont show this message in the future" checkbox for opening skins that were made for and older version. It's not just one click, its a whole unnesecary move of mouse and click.

hehe thats a little lazy aint it?? from what i can see the only reason that we have that dialogue is because the old skins dont have the skin preview code inserted correctly and it works fine without it.

When IE5 can't find the picture, it puts the files size down as -1 byte.

And1K

What about Y1K?

Alright, while excusing my ignorance, can someone please explain to me why MIDIs kick ass. I mean, when I think of MIDIs I think of like a 386 and a PC speaker. I'm not flaming--this is a serious inquiry. Is there something I'm missing with the whole MIDI fixation I've noticed recently? :(

whiteflip 4th September 2001 09:27

double quote. without the midi format it would be difficult to listen to ninteno entertainment system songs like the one i included in this link.
