I’m currently running two shoutcast servers running version 1.8.2/posix. One of the servers is just relaying the other server to add more capacity.
The problem I’m having is that in the shoutcast directory, it’s not showing up as a cluster and I’ve got two listings – normally I wouldn’t mind the extra exposure <g> but what’s happening is that one of the servers is totally full and the other one is barely full – if it was showing as a cluster wouldn’t it automatically ‘load balance’ over the two servers? Thanks Richard Music One http://www.m1live.com |
Try restarting the server or just kick the source that's relaying off the main one. Sometimes it gets confused. It happens to quite a few broadcasters, including me once in a while. I think what happens is both servers come on simultaneously and get confused. Try that first and report back.

Ok, I just did that. The relay has reconnected and is showing up as a cluster, but the main server is still coming up in the directory also..

So there one big cluster with two servers embedded in that one link right? That's how clustering works. If you're still seeing two seperate listings in the shoutcast for the main server and the relay server, then there's a problem still.

Still seeing two seperate listings, and the one that was the relay no longer says 'cluster'

I'd restart everything then. It sounds like the second server is not synching up with the first. Also before you restart everything, check the SHOUTcast config file on the main server and make sure you have it set to allow the server to be relayed. Scroll down the config file and you'll see what I mean.
