I need to be able to activate specific Winamp functions utilizing real world physical input. I want a user to be able to push a button and have a sound file play, each and every time the button is pushed.
I am guessing I'll have to wire the button's output to the serial/parallel ports, and I can handle that. What I don't know how to do is make Winamp respond with the commands I want. I looked through the plugin archives and found some things that *might* work such as IR Remote plugins, command like plugins, etc. But I'd prefer to do a minimal amount of programming or batch scripting, and don't have a remote on hand. Ideally I'd like to find a plugin that accepts parallel/serial signals, and can bind specific Winamp functions to specific signals. Is such a plugin available, or is there another way to do this? I didn't see quite what I need in the archives. Any help on this is greatly appreciated. - JavaJones |
Hmm, nevermind?
Well damn, I may have just figured out how to do it on my own. I did search through the archives before posting previously, and though I downloaded the plugin that now appears to be providing my solution, I apparently overlooked its application to my problem. The plugin COMControll seems to basically do exactly what I need, and includes the pin-out associations as well. So nevermind I guess, and for anyone else looking to do what I was doing, COMControll looks like it's your best bet for now. It's in the General Plugins section.
