cant connect to any radio
I deleted winamp for no apparent reason and just reinstalled it. Now I can't seem to connect to any radio station. It'll have the message:
[could not connect(1)] (whatever URL is there) What could I do to solve this? |
For no apparent reason? Hmm . . . strange! ;)
Prefs (Ctrl+P) -> Setup : make sure the correct connection type is selected, plus enter any proxy/firewall details (if any) btw, are you clicking "Tune-In" links on shoutcast.com pages, or are you using bookmarks or Winamp's Open Location box (Ctrl+L) |
I don't know...
Oh, well...I never had to worry about the proxy settings or anything before (I tried and it still doesnt work)
Umm..I was using bookmarks until I couldnt connect to them, so I went onto Ctrl+L..not that it makes any difference. |
So you are using a proxy connection then?
Or is it a firewall? Proxy details can be found via: Internet Explorer Options -> Connections tab -> server -> settings (or via LAN settings, if it's a LAN connection) Use the following format for proxy: Server:Port For firewalls, use: Username:Password@Server:Port What connection type is it? (Modem/LAN/cable/ADSL/etc) You say you "deleted" Winamp Do you mean you uninstalled it via the uninstall facility/Add Remove Programs, or you just deleted the Winamp folder? Whichever method you used, you probably also deleted the winamp.bm file which stores all the bookmarks. If you're using Ctrl+L, the address must be exact. eg. http://199.175.7.184:8000 Try going back to shoutcast.com, or wherever you got the stations' url's from in the first place. Try clicking the "Tune-In" button on the webpage/s. If that works, once it starts playing in Winamp, you can add the url to your bookmark list again. The only other settings which determine streaming capability are in: Prefs -> Input -> MPEG Audio Decoder -> config -> streaming tab |
arghhh!
nothing seems to be working!
I'm on a modem...I never had to configure winamp before *slaps herself * bugger me for unistalling winamp in the first place! |
