winamp dissapeared
well, i use winamp for the music in many of my games and i'm not sure exactally how it happened but i noticed after a round of game playing of a bunch of different games i went to restore winamp (it was minimized) and it came up... but it was off the screen! There are some clues that brought me to this conclusion, like when i right click on winamp on the taskbar and click move my mouse goes off the screen. There are some other clues, but I really want to know is how to get the window back on the visible desktop? Short of reinstalling winamp i have no idea how to get a lost window back. Please help.

Try right-clicking on the taskbar and selecting "Cascade windows". Or one of the "Tile windows..." options.
If that doesn't work, rightclick on your desktop and choose "Properties" goto the settings tab and put the resolution up as high as possible to see if you can get Winamp on screen. Other than that, I can't think of anything. |
There's actually another way besides the one Lucid DM described :).
You can edit Winamp's configuration file in order to make Winamp appear on your screen again: Locate a file called Winamp.ini, usually located in your Winamp root directory ( C:\Program Files\Winamp by default). Now load that file in a texteditor and search for wx=*** and wy=*** in the [Winamp] - section of the file. The "***"s are just placeholders which actually contain the exact x- and y - coordinates of the Winamp main window on your screen. Now change the wx=*** to 0 (replace the "***"s with a simple zero (0) ), and alter the wy=*** - value to 435. Now save the file and exit. After doing that, load up Winamp. Winamp should appear at the left bottom of the screen when your monitor uses a 800x600 pixels resolution. Just move Winamp to your desired position, and then increase your screen resolution again if you use a higher one than 800x600 :). Peace. |
