..or not.
This is a skin i have been working on lately, and I was just about to publish it but then i saw Duks mention of doing a muscle car skin next, So i just thought I'd show you mine.
Any opinions on the skin would also be great.:)

BullGawD 23rd August 2001 05:47

lol, well I like the theme at least. You've got a lot of good things going on there - I'd have to see it in person to be sure though. ;) :D Go ahead and publish it!

Duk 23rd August 2001 05:56

Excellente! You have a download link somewherez, lankster? I'd like to kick the tires a bit. :D

Mr Jones 23rd August 2001 07:38

He'd like it more if there was a neekid chick stretched over the hood, so would I for that matter :D

lankster 23rd August 2001 07:43

How do i put a download link on here?
I've submitted the skin so i guess it should be publised in three weeks or so.
(it's only my second so i know it isn't the best, so it would be a help if you guys and girls could post your opinions. thanks :))

Mr Jones 23rd August 2001 07:46

Get the skin ID number from your developer account, it's a five digit number that will be present somewhere in the url link.

then add it to the end of this..

http://www.winamp.com/skins/detail.j...ponentId=XXXXX

Replace the XXXXX with your skin ID, it should then give you a link to the download page.

lankster 23rd August 2001 07:56

i just tried what you said but it doesn't work if it is unpublished does it?

Mr Jones 23rd August 2001 07:56

Yep it still works.

[edit]having said that it seems like there is a little fuck up with the database at the minute, and you can't link to unpublished skins at the minute :(

Duk 23rd August 2001 08:28

Yeah, I noticed that too. Happened right after I upped Brit. Coincidence? Hmmm ...

lankster, usually it works. Give it a try maybe tomorrow when this lil' quirk is fixed. (And yes, a nekkid chick sprawled out over the hood would be nice as well ... erm uh ... what was I saying?! :D)

cappy17 23rd August 2001 14:03

Excellent choice of subject, lankster. And the graphics surrounding it are good. I, too, would like to take it for a spin around the block.

And about a chick on the hood, perhaps we can ring up that old salt, Capt Jones.

Very curious to hear what the experts have to say. Iverssson? Cyana? Yeah, you too, Chev.

flatmatt 23rd August 2001 16:41

Nicely done, the thing that looked out of place was the balance slider. I say just kill the balance slider altogether.

Riksruin 23rd August 2001 21:06

thats pretty impresive.

if you dont lose the balance bar at least make the slider smaller by cropping the bitmap up a little.

lankster 23rd August 2001 21:30

yeah that was what i didn't like, both the volume and balance sliders are too big, but i don't know how to make them smaller, because of the picture beneath. ( I'm new at this stuff :( )

Riksruin 23rd August 2001 21:43

open the volume and balance bitmaps in good old MSPaint,

and then scroll to the bottom of the bitmap. and grab the handle that is in the middle at the bottom

code:

o o o

Volume.bmp
Balance.bmp

o o

o x o

and drag it up until you can see the amount of the slider that is needed.

lankster 24th August 2001 05:07

Cheers for that Rikki, :) I made both the volume and balance sliders smaller, i think it looks much better.
When i submit the skin now should i delete the last version i submitted yesterday or update that one?

By the way, thanks for the opinions guys, I should have a download link soon:D

Duk 24th August 2001 05:35

Just use the update link. That'll work fine. :)

Sweet:p , I submitted the updated version, I changed , volume, balance and posbar.

Heres a link to what it looks like now.

I will post a download link as soon as that bug or whatever in the unpublished skins is fixed  .

Duk 24th August 2001 08:10

Looks kool man. :)

If you get the chance, locate and post your Component ID# found on your skin submit page. I wanna try somethin'. Think it'll work ... not sure tho.

lankster 24th August 2001 15:07

I like it though I'm a CHEVy guy though:p

Mr. Bojanglez 25th August 2001 07:57

grrrrrr

simple amp branded by a car?

sure to get more than its share of downloads...

lankster 25th August 2001 08:13

Whatever Mr Bo,
but at least i didn't do it the easy way i.e with a skinning program. I'm sick of seeing skinner skins getting more downloads than ones that people have put lots of time and effort into. So yeah I hope it does get lots of downloads. But downloads are not what i made this for in the first place, I made it because I wanted a good Muscle car skin, and I think that is what I have:)

Duk 25th August 2001 08:17

Download counts are merely fun to look at ... icing on the cake. The real deal is getting a quality finished product that you as the skinner are happy with. Beyond that, who gives two hoots what a reviewer thinks or what the public at large thinks. Yup. :)

Mr Jones 28th August 2001 09:24

Duk, what is this secret * I wanna try somethin'* you speak of?
