A unique semi-lock-up error
 

I've been living with this error for quite sometime now, that seems to be attributed to the use of the newest version (2.76) and earlier of Winamp in the Windows ME environment. It never happened until I upgraded to ME.

What Happens:

I will be running WinAmp, (sometimes it's open but inactive) while additional Applications are also in use and/or idle. NOt right away but eventually, almost everytime, an error message will pop-up. It's usually a very small pop-up (1" x 2") that contains the message "Error # 123456" w/ an OK button only. When clicking the OK button, the error just continually re-appears, never to go away. The only way to get rid of the message, in fact the only way I can shut down at this point is by killing the power or hitting the reset button. Once the error occurs, I am unable to properly shut down. This error usually only locks up one (any) of the open applications, and the rest are still active and useable. I believe it may be partly due to resource allocation, but I'm really not sure!

1) Run a virus scanner with recnet definitions
2) Completly rer-install winamp
3) Make sure no third party plug-ins are installed

Addendum: .....one more detail!
 

The exact error message is:

"Runtime Error 216 at 00004542"
"__________[ OK ]___________"

"This issue can occur if your computer is infected with a SubSeven Trojan virus."
