Sports skins being deleted?

I myself had 3 sports skins deleted, and jct had 2 deleted for no reason. Is there a new rule against anything with a sports logo???

EvilDick23 1st September 2001 03:26

Not sure

It would stand to reason it's either from a complaint about using the logo or reorganizing the skin section. Hopefully skins aren't going to get caught up in a logo copyright fiasco. I can't imagine that it would be removed for using the logo or the name, being that it's free advertising. I haven't seen the skins so I'm not aware of their actual content. Worst case, resubmit or use skin appeal to get them back in. Sorry to hear that your skins were removed though.:(

AOL has come down on Denny for having major league skins on the site and given him a list of skins to delete. If you have NBA, NHL, MLB,
NFL or college team skins, back them up to your hard drive.
:(

* wrong thread.

stupid multitasking. ;)

This blows though. :(

AOL has gone too far!!!:mad:This is bullshit! AOL can kiss my ass.

EvilDick23 1st September 2001 07:12

Wait a sec

I would wait to hear from the mods before you shove a fiery poker up AOL's ass. Although that would be quite a sight to behold. There must be some explanation, unless they want the teams to pay for the advertising like they did for keeping their ROCK STAR skin on the front pages of the new skin section. Someday they will learn that you don't attract new users by censoring the media. It tends to kill the true spirit of Winamp.

I was wondering why that skin was hanging there so long. They payed for it? That's un-ethical in my book.

[afterthought]I wonder how much it costs for a week :p[afterthought]

There've been loads of sponsored skins. They have one every month or something (I'm not sure, I can't remember exactly). There've been ones for films, websites. All sorts of stuff.

Mr Jones 1st September 2001 16:32

Usualy for AOL/Time Warner films, as is the case with Rock Star, sponsored skins maketh much money :)

Assja 1st September 2001 16:34

But (from my memory) the sponored skins hasn't been hanging on top of the "most rescent" category any longer then the rest.

The Only Lynx 1st September 2001 16:34

make money for who? nullsoft? who makes those skins?

Mr Jones 1st September 2001 16:47

nah nah nah, sponsored skins usualy make money for the sponsor, if someone downloads rocks star and then goes and see's the film, then that's a dollar earned, it must work, cos I saw the skin, and went and checked out what the film was about, maybe even go see it when it opens who knows?

Might not have heard about it if I hadn't seen that.

So if it makes money for the sponsor that way, inderectly it makes money for NS, after all , who pays the wages?

The Only Lynx 1st September 2001 16:51

true..

answer my other question.. who makes those skins?

Mr Jones 1st September 2001 16:53

The Only Lynx 1st September 2001 17:05
