no volume at startup?

When I play a Winamp file, my volume instantly drops to zero. I have to click on the speaker icon at the bottom of my screen and use the mouse to raise the "Wave Balance" slider. I have to do this every single time I play a Winamp file. How can I fix this?

Thanks,

Dan

That's odd  ...

Try this and see, if that helps: Open up Winamp. Now press the CTRL and the P - key simultaneously to bring up the Winamp Preferences window. In there you go to Plug-ins -> Output -> doubleclick on Nullsoft waveOut plug-in v2.3 to make its configuration window to appear. There you should checkmark the following items in the Volume control - area at the bottom: checkmark both Enable and Alt setting mode.

Now close all windows and let Winamp play a song. Tell me if that solved your issue :).

By the way, we'll need full system specs, such as Videocard, Soundcard, amount of RAM installed, CPU, Windows version, DirectX version, and so on, if my tip above does not help.

Peace.

Thanks, Budgie. In following your instructions I found that my Nullsoft Waveout Plugin was version 2.0 instead of 2.3. So I went to Winamp and downloaded the entire Winamp program again and installed it. Then I continued with your instructions and found that the "alt setting mode" was not checkmarked. I checkmarked it and now the system is working fine.

Thanks!

The original problem was caused by the volume slider in the main winamp window being set to zero. If you'd just turned it up, all your problems would've gone away . . . without having to checkmark "alt setting mode" ;)

D'OH - Well, my thoughts actually required that the volume slider in Winamp's main play window is cranked up to a decent level  :D ... Damn.

Anyways, cool beans that your issue is gone .

Peace.
