Avs Slow?!
I have a Duron 700, 128MB ram, VooDoo 3 2000, and i run AVS at 640X480 and i get only 20 FPS if i'm LUCKY. usually i get 10-15... whats the deal? is it my video card?

AVS doesn't use the video cards acceleration, and it never gets that good of a framerate, yo're fine

640x480? Are you insane?!
You're supposed to run AVS at around 320x240! |
AVS mainly needs only one resource of your computer, and it needs it galore: MHZ! Yes, that's right, the faster your CPU, the faster AVS will be.
As said before, AVS does not utilize any of the fancy DirectX hardware-acceleration, just plain 2D blitter and MMX instructions, so it does not matter what kind of videocard you have installed at all. The Voodoo3 has a very good 2D acceleration (128 bits, all GDI functions being performed in hardware), like all videocards not older than three years, actually. Just cut down the resolution (400x300 is a good trade-off, IMHO) or buy you one of these nifty AMD or Intel Ghz CPUs ;). Peace. |
